I am in intensive care reapir mode with my hair and though I have a gang of protein conditioners that I loved, I've always secretly wanted one that would have the effect of a protein conditioner without any of the even minimal drying and rougening effects.
I decided to try the Elasta product, though I wasn't expecting much a difference from what I ordinarily experiece - stronger hair, but an appreciable degree of roughness and slight drying even after a mositurizing conditioner. To counteract this effect, I usually have to use a moisturizeing conditioner both directly after the protein treatment and then two more times alone after the protein treatment.
Well not with Elasta!
I used this on Sunday after washing with Lanza PP. I washed twice, rinsed and applied the Elasta (which has a gel-like consistency) and let it stay on for 20 minutes with heat. The directions recommend combing through which I didn't do the first time around because this isn't usually possible with most protein conditioners on my hair. It went on like a gel but was a little slippery. It felt nice. It foamed lightly which suprised me - but I just went with it.
Once I had applied the heat I rinsed in the shower and my hair felt even better - it was smooth and soft and felt just as "strong" as it does with any of my other protein staples. On a roll, I decided to skip the moisturizing conditioner - just to see how it'd play out.
I sprayed on some Infusium and let it sit for a minute or two and then proceeded with my rollerset.
The first thing I noticed was that my hair was VERY easy to rollerset. it's usally a little tangly after a protein conditioner. I also notced a fair degree of shine as I was rollersetting but Iwasn't sure if that was the Infusium or the Elasta.
After my hair was dry was when I noticed a real difference. My hair was soft, supple, and easy to comb (a problem as of late when I rollerset). My hair fetl strong and had a beautiful shine. This conditioner is a keeper for me. It's about an 8 out of 10 on my scale.
It's comparable in consistency to Nexxus Emergencee andthe Elucence protein treatment but was even better on my hair than Emergencee (though I'm not sure if it's as "strong" - so I'll continue to use the Emergencee once a month) and WAY better than the Elucence product which was terrible on me.
If you are having trouble balancing the benefits of protein treatments with the drawbacks, this maybe the answer to your prayers. It was for me.
Hope this helps someone out.
