I wonder if I'm the only one that doesn't go to the BSS all the time, that has a few staples, whose cabinets aren't overflowing with "stuff".....

My Motto is "Less is More" :) I'd rather spend more money on good products that work for me, such as Aveda DR (my luv), than more money on crappy products. I also return or give stuff away if it doesn't work for me.

My cabinet is overflowing but that's just from my PJ days. I'm trying not to buy new stuff until I use up what I have. That's working pretty good. I've bought very few products for the past year. I did go on a buying rampage when nexxus went on sale...

**My hand is raised*** I am not a PJ and I haven't been for a long time. I was a major PJ for the first couple of years of becoming natural (I have been natural for 13 years) Then I discovered what products worked and which didn't. There are times when I will tweak my regimen by ading and oil here or a shampo and conditioner there however it doesn't get to the point where I go nuts.

I have quite a few products and I'm planning on having a little "cabinet sale soon" I am settling into what my hair needs and a good routine, so I consider my purchases an investment to see what works for me. I use a good bit of the products as well. I can see the PJ thing settling down for me now....I just needed to find out what works for me and what doesn't. I've been on the board for a little over 2 months so I feel I've done well during this short period of time, and I can relax a little. :)

Raises Hand...I'm not a PJ, I'm too cheap! Seriously, I want to run out and buy every product that's mentioned on the board, but I found some that work pretty ok for me, and I can't break my budget. Plus, I figure if I actually do make any of my goals any time soon (stupid hair) maybe it can be motivation for other people who feel like they have to either purchase expensive, or lots of products to make progress.

Me Me Me! I have five products total! A shampoo, conditioner, stay sof fro, aloe vera gel and some mango butter (that I don't use).

Same here. I have been giving stuff away.

I pretty much use the same stuff all the time and Idon't go to the BSS much.

I never change shampoos or deep conditioners, but when I run out of my rinse conditioners, I will sometimes try one that I have never used just for a change. I just ran out of oil to massage my scalp with, and I am thinking of trying something I have never used before - I never change my hair oil, though - Kemi oyl always!

I think for myself, my purchases within the past couple of months have been to find products that work for me during my transition. For a long time I used products with mineral oil, petroleum or too much protein and didn't know why they were not working so for me, but I am learning which ones work and which don't. I don't feel that I have to purchase expensive or cheap - but quality product that will help the health of my hair.

I do feel that I have enough to get me down that road.

I am definitely not a PJ. I basically use the same things my momma used....Blue magic, Lekair Cholestoral(sp). I have tried ORS replenishing paks( I *heart* them!) the ORS relaxer for my daughter and Silk Elements Lye for me based on recomendations from the board. I also use sauve clarifying poo,CON poo, and optimum oil(yellow bottle). That's it. My hair does a lot better with less. Less is more works for me.

Me! Before henna, all I had used for years was conditioner. For everything, washing, setting, putting hair up etc. I could never stick with anything else for very long.

Softresses

ME! I probable go to the BSS every 2 months or so. When I find something that works for me I stick to it. So other than my at home Design Essential products which I buy online and from my stylist. My ORS products I buy enough for it to last. My hairproduct shelf looks a little empty but for me at this point less is best.

Im not a PJ....It took me several months to find my staples but now that I have them, I stick with them...
plus keeping an all-natural regimen curbs me from entertaining 95% of product raves....

I may occassionally try a new product if I am not 100% satisfied with what I am using...but thats after careful thought, consideration and research....for instance I am looking for a new shampoo b/c although its natural Elucence uses parabens....so I am keeping my eyes open for a new one....

My hair likes consistency and my account likes to keep its money...so PJism doesnt work for me ;)

I'm not a PJ i stick to what i know..cos this is what works..i only own conditioner and olive oil moisturizer...and a denman brush... since i BC'd in April then texlaxed with ORS olive oil relaxer, the only other product ive used is mango butter which is real good but aint in my student budget:lol: .

I'm raising my hand.

I'm not a PJ. I think I used to be. But I have also learned that less is more.

I am a former PJ. I reformed about a year ago. As a result, I still have plenty of products to see me through for at least another year. Even with my professional discount and employee discount, I rarely take advantage of opportunities to purchase products. I was put to the test just last week when our salon received some new products in the Redken Smooth Down line. I was curious about them, but not at all tempted to purchase them, even at a 50% discount! What an accomplishment!

I am a PJ but my cupboard is clean :yep:
Mane n tail orginal conditioner
lacio lacio
silicon mix conditioner
silk elements relaxer
proclaim glossing polish
upturn neutralizing shampoo

The only stuff I buy from the store is neutralizing shampoo, mane n tail, relaxer and proclaim glossing polish. I buy products from myself too. I can't believe I am reformed!

I am very loyal when I find a product I like. I have a lot of products actually from product exchanges. I try not to participate in the exchanges unless it is something I will actually use.

Thank-God, i'm not a PJ anymore, i've found my product staples, i don't see the need to purchase tons of moisturising cons and protein stuff, i'm just using one or two of each. I still have products i'm using up from my PJ days

Another reformed PJ checking in. My PJism was a result of me trying to lock down what worked for me. Now I've got an arsenal of products that I know are effective, and I'm happy with them. I haven't the slightest urge to experiment because I loathe bad hair experiences. If it ain't broke, don't buy more to replace it.

I totally agree. The products I use work for my hair and my pocket. I still browse the other products at the bss, but I want to be consistent. Most of my hair inspirations don't use lots of products.

I understand how easy it is to become a pj though. The last time I went to Sally's, the Silk Elements line almost hypnotized me. I think I heard voices saying "Try me. I'm worth it."

I heard that!!!:lachen:I go inside Sally's and I want one of everything. I allow myself to try something new once I run out of something. And I make sure that I use up everything by mixing and discovering new uses.

Geez I wait for the day that I clean up my habit and raise my hand and say that I am not a PJ ...gotta run to Sally's now...

Bahahhaaahha!! I'm with you girl... I'll raise my hand in about 3 months from now when I get my reggie down pat.

These ladies are setting a great example for us...and it's good to hear that some of them are in PJism recovery because they finally found the right combo of products that work for them...

I'm not quite there yet, I don't have any totally knock me off my feet line of products yet. NTM disappointed me a bit...I was hoping that was going to be my magic line.

Balisi, my new LHCF hair stylist, has recommeded a line to me. I'm going to get that and use it for a while and ignore all the raves about the other products and stay out of the December Hit or Miss thread. I'll be in full recovery soon enough.

hand raise here! I think I tried to become one, but I'm too scary to just up and try things on my head. lol So, I'm all for basics which for me is KeraCare
