My hair is no longer brastrap, its chin length. I used some plant shampoo that someone recommended to stop shedding, and the PJism in me took over. My hair knotted up so terribly, i ended up cutting it off. It was shedding so bad i couldnt take it anymore. So now my once brastrap hair is now chinlength. I didnt even go to a salon, I just cut it myself and now i am wearing a scarf until I can figure out what to do with my hair.

I am not mad tho. How can u be when u have wonderful products like MN and Boundless Tresses. (I would have been heated years ago.) I am actually a little relieved. My hair is no longer shedding and due to the drastic cut, and it feels thick and healthy again.

There is a lesson to all of this. Dont let the PJism take control of you. STICK TO WHAT YOU KNOW THAT WORKS. If you dont know what works, find something and STICK TO IT. Dont get all crazy like I did.

I am not mad at anyone, not even myself because i have been complaining about my hair shedding for awhile. I've been wanting to transition or texlax to regain thickness lately so this just made it a little bit easier.

I'm sorry you had to cut it, but you learned a very very valuable lesson that some of us (myself included) have found out the hard way :yep:.

Good luck on your new journey!

Im so sorry that happened to you. Did you try to detangle with conditioner in it gently? Maybe you were simply lacking moisture. In my experience shampoos never stops anything. Only proteins and moisture. I know you hair will bounce right back and even healthier. Rooting for you.

Wow i am sorry to hear that. This should serve as a warning to everyone to not be so quick to do what everyone else is doing. You have a very positive attitude about it all. I am sure you hair will grow back thicker than it was before :yep:

I'm sorry to hear about your hair . It seems you are in good spirits though and that's good. I totally agree about using what continues to work for you... a product can really set you back.

So you mean to tell me all that long pretty hair is gone?

I am sure you will grow it all back quicker than you realize.:yep:

Good luck to you on your journey and I know you can do it:yep:

Yea its all gone. It looks about the same length as Bre Bre's siggy. I just have to get it styled somewhat because There are some uneven pieces and a couple of them are shoulder length. It was a careless hack i guess. But thanks ladies. You have to have a good spirit because it can be very depressing and I dont wanna go that route. To much to do to be depressed about it. Besides, Im about to stack up on some Boundless tresses lol Natural Lady got a big order coming soon! :lachen:

You have such a great attitude! I have suffered minor setbacks during my "experimenting phase," but I think I have found what works for me and will just stick with them. You and your hair are beautiful, and I hope your hair grows back thicker and heathier than before.

I am just impressed with your positive attitude.. because when I had a setback I was so MAD at my own self for my hair woes. I wished I had your attitude... I am still disappointed with myself about jacking my hair up! and that was way back in July:nono:

But your outlook is great so maybe I can learn that from you.. and like you said the positive about the situation is that you were wanting to transition anyway for thicker hair.. so now you can do it with ease:yep:

Sorry that you had to do such a drastic cut. But you're right, it is JUST hair and it will be back, better than ever.

This reminds me of a minor setback I had last year. Do you remember all of the Hello Hydration hype? I tried the shampoo and my hair got screwed up after ONE wash. I had to do a cut (minor compared to yours.)

The lesson is that we shouldnt get on these new product bandwagons. Since then, I've just stuck to what I *KNOW* works for me.

I am so sorry. I can completely understand how you feel :ohwell:

I did the same thing August 2006 (See my fotki), I chopped all my hair off, and it looked so much better...

Sometimes starting over when you have had a really bad setback is the best thing to do

(One more thing, I still think it's a good idea to try something new every now and then, just be very careful......I was very careful about MN...simply because I know how bad things can go)

OMG! I was just in your fotki day before yesterday. Sorry to hear this. At least you're comfortable with your decision and satisfied with the results.:yep:

:bighug:Sxy, your hair will be back in no time!! We've all been there (I'm there now!). Try to find a good salon that will shape up your bob so it will be chic cut for the fall.

Yea Im not saying DONT ever try anything new, here and there is cool, but being a PJ, not cool IMO. It has its consequences somewhere along the line whether its severe or not so severe.

But I'll post some pics to show either a new hair cut or some new braids either way, my bday is coming up on tuesday so I need a fresh do!

Wow... look down in my siggy at my counter. Not the hair reveal I was hoping for, but it will definitely be quite a reveal :lachen:

So sorry to hear about this... But it will grow back healthier... Like you say we live and learn... When I first joined this board I was APL and was jumping on bandwagons left and right... I was using hard core proteins with no DC moisturizing conditioner's afterwrds... well in no time my hair was up to my neck:lachen::wallbash:... I was sick... So I know how you feel... I now stick to basic products... and I keep a journal of all products and how my hair reacts to it and when my hair gets crazy I refer to my journal and see what product will give me the results I am needing... I still cry out for help on this forum but, I won't go out and use new products trying to cure my hair woes... We all have tales and woes of setbacks, so you are not alone... Your hair looks very pretty and I bet it will grow back before you know it... Good Luck and please keep us posted on all the progress you are going to make:yep:

WOW sxyhairfetish!! :bighug:

You really DO have a wonderful attitude about this. I was very saddened when I heard what happened. But your pleasant and positive outlook will serve as inspiration for others who, I'm sure, have experienced similar. Again, I'm so sorry this happened. I know that you hair will continue to grow and achieve great lengths because you have the wherewithal and determination, not to mention an optimistic and positive attitude that will you very far in life and what you want to do.

Keep that head up!

All the best,

SP :kiss::kiss:

Sorry this happened to you. What I dont understand is how bad do tangles have or shedding have to be to cut? Seems a lot of folks are losing hair to cuts and mishaps lately.:nono:

I'm so sorry to hear this sxy. I am learning from this too. One good thing is that once you have the knowledge of what to do, no-one can take that away from you. You know exactly what to do to grow it back. It will probably be even more beautiful than before! Can you imagine????

Ben Carson said that about his education - that people can rob him of his possessions, but because of his education, these will always be replaced and replaced even better, because he is learning more all the time. This will be the same for you.

Growing it back will be fun!! You have all these supportive ladies :grouphug2:on this wonderful interesting board!

ETA: I should have known! You're a Libra. No wonder you're so positive! I just noticed that. :yep::clapping:

Serenity Peace: Aooowwww... libras in the house! lol j/k yea i'll keep everyone updated. I P-R-O-M-I-S-E Glad to serve as an inspiration to some.

Lady Z glad to know that I am not alone. Its crazy. Especially to the newbies that are soaking EVERYTHING in.

OnaHairQuest: it gets and it got really bad. I had about 4 HUGE knots and tiny ones as well. Its not IMPOSSIBLE to comb through, but it takes a huge amount of time and then when u look at the floor when ur done, u see gobs and gobs of hair. My hair was already thin, so to sit there and try to get those knots out would have caused alot of breakage and pulling. Then to end up with like one strand of bra strap hair, ridiculous. So I just said f*** it and I chopped ot off.

Understood.:yep:

Girlfriend, you are an inspiration! You have such an upbeat disposition...I wanna be just like you when I grow up!!!

Continued good luck on your hair journey!!!

Wow! I'm sorry for you but what a wonderful attitude to have. I'm sure as attractive as you are, you will rock that bob cut. Good luck!

WOW! From brastrap to chin length? You did a very bold move. I hope everything works out for you as you grow your hair back out.

Sorry to hear the set back, but glad to hear you are holding your head up. I went through a drastic cut years ago, and kept my head up, I needed that cut and next thing I know I had hair down my back.

When I first started reading this thread the first thing I thought was that this was going to be depressing. I kept reading and found your attitude totally refreshing! I actually felt better after. I'm also glad to see that others are recognizing the power of your positive thinking. Thank you!!
