I got micros put in the 5th of last month and I already have two inches of new growth (I blame that on my pregnancy)! Anyways, I am about ready to take them out but I'm apprehensive about it because it's knotted where my hair ends (everybody has a different way to secure their braids) and I don't know the correct way to take'em out. So, my question is how do you take these suckas out w/o breaking my ends off?

Thanks, Ciara

wash and deep condition them to get them really loose,

then when you take them down, use your hands and NOT a small tooth comb

make sure you cut RIGHT above where they secured your hair...if they just knotted it, undue the knot without cutting,

when you get all of the braids out, saturate you hair in conditioner and gently detangle in sections....

i took down braids in september with NO breakage, tangling, or matting....I was amazed, because it was not the case when I took them down before

I hope this helps you...:D

Congratulations!

When I wore micros and was ready to take them out, I saturated my braids with Better Braids UNBRAID Braid removal spray. I cut the knots I was able to see and had my S.O. do the rest (only person I trust with a razor near my hair lol) I didn't use scissors because they were too big for the TINY knots this woman tied. It worked fairly well though and even though my hair was gunky from the build-up and removal spray, I didn't have much shedding or breakage at all.:)

Thank you! I'm so excited to find out what I'm having next month! I hope its a girl but it really don't matter as long as its healthy!

Ok, I am going to have to try that. After you took your braids out and washed it, did you use a moisturizing or protein conditioner?

I was gonna chime in and recommend this route.

IMHO no amount of washing or saturating your braids in conditioner is gonna break down the debris at the base of the braids. The salisylic acid in this product breaks it down. Spray it about 30 mins before taking them out. Don't over do it cause it's quite sticky.

When you take them down put them into about 4-8 sections and detangle very gently. I ALWAYS wash with a cleansing shampoo to remove the better braids product in my hair and any other gunk (hair still in the section) then follow up with a moisturising shampoo.
