Is it okay to use a conditioner as an everyday moisturizer? Particularly one that can be used as a leave in conditioner. My new growth is sooooo dry and the regular stuff just doesn't seem to cut it. My humectress said it was okay to use as a leave-in so I've been thinking about using it as a moisturizer. I don't really have to many issues with product build up, but I will be relaxing my hair soon. Thanx :)

Humectress is definitely a good idea to use as a daily moisturizer :)

Personally I use Paul Mitchell's "The Conditioner"... a little bit each day for moisture prior to applying Vatika or jojoba oil.

Other ladies should chime in soon ;)

ITA about the Humectress. :yep: It's great as a moisturizer and the liter size says "for use as a hair dressing, massage a small amount into damp or dry hair". I'm using the Nexxus Phyto-Organics line now and if necessary, I use it on dry hair as a moisturizer too .

does the conditioner have to say that it can be used as a leave-in or daily...or will any conditioner do the job?

I have found that any conditioner will do the trick (depending on your hair).

I used Suave and V05 cheapies on my hair with GREAT success!

I do! My hair doesn't feel as weighed down when I use a leave-in conditioner. I've been doing this since January and I haven't had any issues whatsoever. I find moisturizing lotions, cremes or anything similar weighs my hair down.

Thanks ladies... I actually got impatient and put some in while I was waiting for a response LOL. I'd still like to hear about some more suggestions on conditioners that can be used as moisturizers and which ones should be avoided.

For *my* hair, conditioners that I avoid are intensely moisturizing conditioners such as silicon mix.

I use light conditioners like V05 Strawberries or Suave Milk N Honey. My hair LOVES those! Any watery/cheapie conditioner works for me.

I've noticed this too... They weigh my hair down but sometimes it still feels dry. Just dry and greasy (weird but true).

I only put a little (humectress) on and i feel a difference... lets see how it feels later

From time to time, I'll use conditioners as leave-ins. My favorites are AO Honeysuckle Rose, Proclaim Aloe & Shea Butter or Tresemme Moisture Rich. These make a nice treat for dry ends.
