Quick Poll: DC before or after using a rinse?

So ladies, what gives you the best results? I don't wanna get dried out since I'm a bit dry already as some of you saw from some pics from a thread I started recently.
I plan on using a clear rinse that's gentle, either VIA or Adore probably but I'm open to recs.

I am fussy but i like to DC before and after - but i think you are only supposed to DC after...if the hair has to much moisture before applying colour it may not take as well.

The other night i slept with conditioner on my head lol...but in the morning my hair felt soooo soft.

Heheh, your process sounds like something I'd do! Considering it's clear and all the one I'll be using, not sure if it makes a difference if I DC first or not. I thought that with colored ones however, you want to make sure the hair is uncoated/ unconditioned to make sure the color takes well or lasts I think.

AT THE SAME TIME!

i used john frieda color glazes in burgundy and clear mixed with kenra mc...dc'd for an hour...WHAT! so soft. and my color came out great.

To get more detailed views and opinions, if you haven't checked it out already, take a look at the rinse/cellophane thread as well. I personally am not a big fan of adding my color directly to my conditioner, or DC'ing before. Some people do it w/great results, but I like to make sure my color is as vibrant as possible so I always use a chelator before my rinse then wash w/a moisturizing poo and DC.

I thought a rinse wouldn't take on your hair with conditioner on it first? I thought a hairstylist told me that years ago. I prefer to "strip" my hair with shampoo first and then put my rinse in so it "takes".

As stated before, many have great results mixing them. But I have done both ways an feel that rinse deposit (with color or not) is better on unconditioned hair. Even though you aren't using color you want the clear rinse to deposit for shine and cuticle sealing, otherwise why use it at all?

I always DC after a rinse.. It makes my hair feel so much more moisturized and silky!
