Hi ladies,

I have been doing braidouts lately with some success but I have one issue by midday my braidouts look like I was in the Sahara dessert :ohwell: (dry, dry, dry, frizz, frizz, frizz). How do you ladies keep your braidouts looking fresh and moist?

Sorry that I have to ask but I am fighting with the search engine and losing :lachen:.

Depends on what you're using to set the braid out. For me, I very rarely use gels. If I do it's EcoStyler (clear) I've already used my Hawaiian Silky, EVCO and sealed with either Castor or Shea Butter.

It keeps alot of sheen w/o weighing my hair down. Also, when I loosely rebraid for the night, I again use something moisturizing on my hair. Oh, and before I unravel the ends of my braids, I apply a bit of shea butter, or something heavy to my finger and smooth the ends then unravel. Keeps the braidout from frizzing. HTH

I have this pic posted in my albums, I smooth the hair closer to my scalp and midshaft with Vatika Oil, then I do this to the ends...

the outcome is the pic you see in my siggy

I cowashed with suave coconut and braided the damp hair with Afroveda cocolatte and shea butter sealing with ORS anti-frizz. Its too cute in the morning but the office A/C is drying.

I agree with the previous poster that it depends on how you set your braidout. I'm often asked about the braidout in my siggy. Here is how I did it:

I did a protein dc on dry hair using Motions CPR and then shampooed with Motions CPR shampoo. I applied my leave-ins (ORS Carrot Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, NTM Silk Touch, and Rusk Smoother) and airdried for about an hour. While my hair was still damp, I put in two braids in the back and two in the front. I put more EVCO on my ends to make them sleek and smooth. I rolled the ends with those stretchy rollers (non-foam) and went to bed. When I took down my braids the next morning and shook it out, I took the picture.

I think I maintained this for 3 days. At night, I just put in my leave-ins (except for the Rusk Smoother) and braided the bottom of my hair in 4 braids. In the morning, I just took out the braids, applied leave-ins and shook it to get it to poof up.

ETA photo since I'm getting the urge to change my siggy pic again!
