Quick and fashionable styles for short natural hair

Does anyone have any ideas? Buns make me look frumpy and i am getting sick of the wash n go look and puffs.

What about flat twists in the front, or across the front with the back in a twist out. I hope that makes sense. I don't have any pictures but I just thought about it and want to try it when my hair gets longer.
