Right now I am natural but I am really considering the texlax route for the following reasons:

When I bun, I get sick of the pouffiness it has at times and would like to eliminate that altogether. I currently try to brush w/gel although I know its bad.

Although I carefully detangle, the knots get on my nerves and taek away from length.

I really would like to show more length and be less poufy. I would also like to try rollersets (not all the time tho) and have them look sleek. On a daily basis i would continue to bun.

I have fine/thin 4/a4b hair. I hardly ever use heat (maybe 1-2x per yr). I bun constantly. I just want to show more length and have the option of doing a wash n go or a bun and have it look a little sleeker.

What are your individual PROS and CONS for texlaxing?
Also- Do you reccomend I got to a professional for virgin and repeat texlaxing or do it myself?

I would say do it yourself, but do strand tests first to get the result your looking for. My hair type is very similar to yours and i recently texlaxed/texturized and am happy with the results. Still have shrinkage but not as much and im enjoying my hair more now

I  my texlaxed hair, but it is not without it's difficulties. I self-relax and I've found getting consistent textures isn't easy. Right now I have to different textures (one from my first texlax and another from my second). Actually, I have three if you count my natural texture. But I did get all the things you're looking for. I WnG, phony pony, or bun most of the time but smooth sleek hair is never more than a rollerset away.

Make sure you strand test so there aren't any surprises.

Pros
-Easier/faster to detangle
-Much less shrinkage
-Can go straight or curly at my whim
-Thicker than relaxed hair
-Holds moisture well
-Easy to airdry
-Predictable styling

Cons
-Difficult to get consistent texture throughout
-Sometimes difficult to discern line of demarcation
-Prone to frizzies without the right products

As you can see, my pros outweigh my cons hence my being texlaxed. I would recommend going to a professional for the first one, but I would definitely suggest a strand test by either you or the styling so you have an idea of how much time you need to process it. After that, depending on how you feel about stylists/salons, you could continue going or do it yourself. Self-texlaxing is much easier than self-relaxing, IMO, so it shouldn't be too much of a challenge with a little practice and all of the self-relaxing guides around here.

Good luck! :)

You did it!!! Congrats! It looks good.

Nexxus Phyto Organics Theratin & Humectin, Giovanni Direct, Vatika oil...NTM's CLS and DDC also tame frizzies.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my texlaxed hair!!

PROS:

THICKER than when I relaxed bone straight or all the way
Much more bounce and body
Stronger strands
Fuller
Air dries easily
Holds curls better

CONS:

Can become frizzy
Edges do not lay down as well

I'm considering it. The knots are becoming such a hassle! I used to be able to just run my fingers through my hair to detangle, but now that I'm almost to my 1 year mark, i find myself having to cut some of the knots out. And it takes forever for my hair to dry. I love my natural texture and couldn't stand my relaxed hair- so I think this may be a good option

I was just about to start a thread regarding this, but I'll just jump on this one. I just started my hair journey and currently have neck length hair (top of my shoulders). I have about 1.5 inches of new growth and I am considering transitioning to texlax/telaxed hair. My question is what do you think I absolutely must know and/or do before transitioning?

this pretty much sums it up for me. Also if you have 4b hair you won't really get curls but just a big poofy frizz ball. I still like it tho.

I did do the virgin myself but I had two people helping me apply to the back, holding up mirrors, etc.
