Questions about braidouts and twistouts

Hey ladies, Im fairly new to all of this but I was wondering what do you put on the ends of your hair when you do a braidout or twistout to keep it from unraveling? Any suggestions because I know Im not supposed to use rubber bands.

Are you relaxed?
My hair is natural so it coils at the ends on its own. But I used to use perm rods. You can also to bantu knots/ chiney bumps- which is winding the twist around it self until it forms a ball.
