Does anyone's scalp get irritated when you apply JBCO directly to your scalp? I've been getting scalp acne/irritation since I started this and I'm beginning to think this is the culprit (maybe it's clogging my pores/hair follicles). My hair has also been shedding a lot because of the irritation. I have to get my scalp healthy again before I suffer a setback, so I think I will just add the castor oil to my conditioners and call it a day.

I went to the derm yesterday and she gave me clobex shampoo to use and some antibiotics, but I'm afraid to use the shampoo because it's for psoriasis, which I don't have. It's just a bunch of acne zits on the scalp that are very painful. I'm hoping the medicine will stop this and hopefully not adding anything to my scalp will also help. Any suggestions for what I can do to return the scalp to it's normal state?

I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else. Please let me know.

Thanks ladies!

The only problem I suffered from was scalp soreness. After I would apply JBCO my scalp would be so sore to the touch that I could not lay down without wanting to cry, but after two weeks it stopped. Maybe your scalp has to get use to it.

If you are getting pimples, it sounds like your pores are clogged since that is the normal cause of facial/body acne. Maybe you could apply it more to the hair shaft length than the scalp? You may want to try co-washing with a Neutrogena T-Gel Conditioner because its active ingredient is salicylic acid, which is used traditionally on facial acne. It may be a good interim step if you are not ready to use the prescription poo.

No I haven't experienced anything like that, plus I mix mine with cinnamon or coconut oil to thin it out before applying to my Scalp. I would stop using it if I were you and follow the dermatology directions

Yes, castor oil is known to cause scalp itchies, soreness. Sometimes dilluting it with another oil can help. If I don't dillute mine enough my scalp will itch like millions of bugs are crawling around up there. What's weird is that the itchies don't start until like the next day after you applied it.

And some people are just plain allergic to it.

Do you massage the scalp when using jbco?

I found that massaging the scalp causes extreme soreness no matter what I use. When I first joined I was trying to massage for 5 minutes like some. That was too much for my scalp. Over time I may increase the amount of time but for now, I only massage the scalp for about 1 minute, 2 minutes max.

I had a few acne pimples around the edge of my hair line but not sure if was a result of jbco. I think it was due to product buildup in general.

I'm no skin expert, but maybe the pimples on the scalp is the JBCO pulling up all of the impurities hidden below the skin's surface and releasing it. I have read online that JBCO is good for ridding the skin of toxicities and impurities below the surface that inhibit healthy skin, or in this case, healthy hair/ scalp. If it were me and the irritation doesn't bother you too much I'd stick with it and see what happens. After those impurities get cleaned out, you may see a great benefit to the hair and scalp. HTH
