I just received my 4lb tub, and as I read the instructions, it says to base the scalp, and then to put on DE Protect + Pre-Chemical Treatment which I did not buy. It sounds like it's a conditioner that protects your hair from being damage by the chemicals. Here is the description for it:

"Protect + Pre-Chemical Treatment is a rich blend of electronically charged polymers and conditioners designed to lay a protective coat on the hair to shield it against damage that occurs during chemical applications. It insures control against overlapping therefore leaving the hair in a healthier and more conditioned state."

My question is, since I don't have this, what conditioner can I substitute that will do just as good of a job of protecting my hair from damage before applying the relaxer chemicals to my hair. Any suggestions are welcome.
