I bought some scissoirs (Bronze Series) $9.00 cheapies.

And I have been just trimming a hair here and there that i see is split.

Is this a bad idea, will my total mane/ends look goofy?

Has anyone else ever done this?

What you are describing sounds like dusting, or search & destroy. You look for individual hairs that are damaged and trim only there. Very tedious, but effective.

I did this for quite a while, I just followed the line of an original trim. It didnt look bad. One drawback was there wasn't quite as much swing over time, but ... no challenge or breakage, etc.

Only when my hair grew faster than other parts did I end up needing to even it up with a real trip- so it wasn't "fighting" with other hairs. And I wanted a new shape to my hair.

Hope this helps,
Lovie
