For people with long hair, what do you do with the ends of your natural hair as you keep braiding it on down...

Some braiders will weave the hair all the way down the shaft of the braid. So the longer your hair the longer the weave. Meaning hair is tree braided into the loose end of the braid also.

I have seen one other method where the hair is braided into a circle around your hair and tied together into rows. This way you can wear it as short or as long as you want.

I like the former because it is much easier to take down.

One of the ladies in this Forum, SweetNic I think, said to braid the leftover ends across and I guess you'd have to sew that last end in place... I'm going to do my syster's hair this weekend, her hair is at least 10 inches, I will let you know how it went.

That's true. I braided my sister's hair across. I also like DSD's suggestion but I would modify it a little. If I do this style again, I would not braid the cornrows all the way to the nape. I would stop 2 to 3 inches above the nape. I would braid the loose ends across the head then fold the excess ends under the braid (think of a tight zig-zag). Next I would sow the excess ends onto the final braid. Finally I would do singles in the last 2-3 inches of hair.

I hope I explained that clearly.

Today I just braided my hair with cornrows by adding in the regualar braided hair, and yall I have come to the conclusion that I dont think I have the skills to do Tree Braids. I think it will be hard for me to seperate my hair from the weave..Maybe I'll just have to keep practicing...
