question about honey

I sometimes use honey as a leave in, mixed with my gel, to slick down my edges, etc. It should be fine.

just dont forget that honey acts as a bleach when mixed with moisture,,,,

see this thread from another hair forum....

thats why i reduced my usage........

my hair was super dry yesterday (i had been to the beach) so i mixed conditioner, heaps of honey, mixed oils (castor, coconut, flaxseed, wheatgerm, jojoba), aloe vera gel......let it sit for a few minutes (its 40 degrees this side so just sat for 7 mins under dryer) and rinsed.....

my my my hair was so soft when i rinsed :yep:

Continued & extended use of natural honey will lighten your hair. Honey contains a small (but powerful) amount of natural peroxide. I use honey in just about all my DC's because I have yet to find a better humectant....a little bit goes a long way.
Honey will also build up on your hair so don't forget to clarify/chelate as needed.

If you Zap honey in the microwave for 30 seconds - the lightening properties will go away...........................

Really ?? hmm this is good news. I love the benefits of honey but I dont want to lighten my hair at all. I was just about to consider replacing the honey with blackstrap molasses to avoid the lightening effects. Thanks for the info

This is good to know. I love using honey to boost my conditioners, but I definitely don't want the lightening issue.

Thanks, Sam!

Thanks for that.....I guess this explains why my hair has gone a bit light....I couldnt think what might have caused this....thanks:drunk:
