ive asked this before but didnt get an answer.....when youre doing any kind of protein tx, is the goal for you to leave it in until it gets hard....or are you supposed to wash it BEFORE your hair gets hard???

I do mild protein tx (Aubrey GPB) but I don't think you want to leave the protein in until your hair is hard. The main purpose of it is to strengthen it a bit but too much protein can be bad for your hair as well. If it's too brittle then it won't be able to handle as much manipulation and may break off like twigs. At least this is what happened to a friend of mines after an Aphogee tx.

As far as I know, the only treatment that is supposed to be left on until it gets hard is the Aphogee treatment. Usually the others are left on for a specific amount of time and then rinsed out, but they don't get hard in that time period.

I agree with NurseN98, doing the treatments too often or for too long can end up being counterproductive.

It depends on the kind. Aphoghee and Sebastian Penetraitt are to be left on until hard. All others (Dudley's, Elasta QP Breakage Control Serum, Nexxus Emergencee) can be applied with a plastic cap and rinsed after 20 minutes or so.

HTH!

usually the directions on the carton (of your choice of tx) has the directions on them. aphogee, for instance, gives very detailed instructions like....do a tx every 6 weeks, do not let product touch skin, let product harden on the hair, do not comb hair , follow tx w/balancing tx and so forth
