Putting a rinse over Highlights???

Everybody is out enjoying the day, they'll be back later this evening to give you some solid advice-I was up and running since 6:45 am so my chores are done..but..I would not do it after having a bad experience with color. You know it is drying so be cautious.

Is that damaging? I have a picture of my highlights on my avatar. Who it come out right? what colors would be best?:perplexed

I raise my hand....me...me..I do this, actually I do it all the time. I usually wear a Jazzin rinse in Spiced Cognac and when the warm weather rolls around I add a few small highlights in my bang and framing my face, and I love how the color comes out.

Before I started my hair journey I had some breakage in the back of my hair, but I attribute that to my error.....I was using too much protein, since starting my healthy hair journey I haven't seen any ill effects. It's my opinion that as long as you keep up with your regular conditioning, protein/moisture balance, and sealing you should be fine.

Using a rinse (sans ammonia & peroxide) should not be damaging. Regarding colors, be sure to consult the color wheel. You do not want to end up with green highlights. Also, my experience indicates that the base color of the rinse will stick around, long after the rinse fades. Choose your colors carefully.

My hair is dark like yours... I love rinses over highlights...well mine are at the bottom now...but they're the only place where I can see the color...

Depending on what you want to do; I think it will be very pretty... I always do dark reds, browns, or black. I've used color showers (dominican brand) and on other people... clairol beautiful or bigen... bigen is a bit strong..it's for covering my mother's resistant grays... :lachen:

Also another tip... a couple days after your colored rinse/cellophane...throw a clear one on top... makes hair bling! I like clairol moisture gloss.. but I'm interested in trying more brands.

Good luck.

I did that with red way back when I was transitioning. It was nice! I think my hair broke a little, not sure why, but it was cute!
