will this cause the relaxer to revert? I know it is okay to use a small amount during the process, not sure if it is okay to use after the relaxer.

Sorry no time to search

I believe reverting only happens if you use a lye relaxer and follow it immediately with a hardcore protein treatment.

I did a protein treatment about 2 days after a relaxer and it did cause my hair to revert some. It's been a long time, so I don't really remember if the relaxer was lye or not. I do remember saying "DANG!" after I saw the results.

Let me think, if you use protein right after a relaxer, I don't believe it would shrink because don't you need to use a Neutralizer in order to stop the relaxing process?

Uh oh, ya'll have me so scared...however, does it depend on how strong the protein treatment is?

oh! I re-read the OP, you can use protein during the relaxer process, like after you rinse out the relaxer but before you use the neutralizing shampoo and let it sit for 2-3 minutes, aphoghee 2min is good for this, I've heard people use Joico too. That should be fine. I thought you were talking about doing a hard protein treatment after completing the entire relaxer process. That would definitely be a no-no, IMO.

When I was relaxed, using protein during the relaxing process was very beneficial to my strands. :yep: There are plenty of threads around here about that with positive experiences.
