So today I took down my braid to moisturize and WOW my hair is back to its original thickness! I had been doing moisturizing treatments only for about a month (too lazy to do protein treamtents ) and my hair had been limp and lifeless for the past few weeks. I'm relaxing next week (yup..it sucks:ohwell:) and I did an Aphogee 2 min reconstructor for about 5 minutes, rinsed it out then did a moisturizing treatment with Proclaim. I airdried my hair and WOW my hair is no longer thin and lifeless like it was!! It's thick bouncy and soft like it had been..maybe I'll be up my protein treatments :yep:
So I remember seeing somewhere that protein makes your hair appear thicker..is that true? Does anyone have scientific background on this subject?? And is there anyone who doesn't use protein at all but their hair is thick?
I have fine hair by the way and it's a battle to make my hair healthily thick.. :look:

That is an interesting thought-- sorry I dont have any information to help answer your question. Some of the women using MT are experiencing thicker hair, I wonder if that has anything to do with the protein boost.

Protein does deposit along the cuticle layer and gives the appearance increased shaft diameter temporarily.:yep: Volumizing product lines also contain light proteins for this reason. Color rinses have this effect as well-- they also contain proteins that work on the cuticle.

Airdrying the hair also gives the appearance of "bigger" hair. :yep:

I think I'll do a protein treatment everyother week now. So now i know why my hair was a thick mess when i was doing protein treatments weekly :lachen:

Aww thanks! The protein will plump up your locks, just be careful not to get too trigger happy over there. :lachen:
