Protective Styles = Less Feminine?

So this is a dumb story and the situation made me mad... But here we go.

So the weather haa been crappy in MI and I decided I wanted pizza, so I decided I would get it myself after I was done washing and DCing my hair. So I put it in a bunn wet and went to go with the pizza.

So I walk in and the lady glances at me and is like, "did you already order sir?"

And when I didn't respond to her she looked up at me and said, "I mean ma'am..."



I'm thinking to myself damn I know my hair is tied back and I have a lot of layers of clothes on and no makeup or anything, but do I really look like a man at first glance?...

And yes I do get frustrated with protective styles sometimes... but I mean dang... Is this messing up my groove to meet a nice guy somewhere randomly if that was supposed to happen because "my hair is tied back".

What do you guys think? Am I just spazzing out on this?

(In Flava Flav voice) Wow... I wore my hair in a ponytail to work for the first time in a while and my coworkers didnt even recognize me..One walked right past and had to double back.."Is that you?" You're not spazzing, it happens to all of us..Its been plenty of times where I wished I didnt have a hat on or a ponytail and bumped into a cutie.. Thats why I keep pretty pics on my phone..lol "This is how I normally look"..

Sounds like she barely glanced and just saw layers of clothes, couldn't see you were wearing a bun and maybe thought short hair and made her assumption without a thought. The fact that she corrected herself so quickly shows that she realized she jumped to a conclusion.

Sometimes I get bored with the buns too, but you can always dress them up with headbands and accessories. IMHO, the prettiest buns are BIG buns, so even add some hair/phony pony to create the look of a big bun

Anywho...you can totally rock your buns and updos in different ways and be cute at the same time I hope this foul experience hasn't discouraged you, b/c from what I can see you have pretty eyes and a very nice smile (and often your smile is the first thing people notice and react to).

Yeah I definitely was not smiling after what she said....

And yeah no doubt these dude are running with long locs... Its like you can't watch tv without seeing dudes like Real. And dudes playing football and basketball running around with their hair blowing in the damn breeze... Haha... I don't wanna have to fight to use my Hawaiian Silky 14 in 1. Someone may get hurt...

I always keep in my earrings. I always just wear big studs because I don't like big dangling ones. Maybe I should buy the biggest earrings ever. But I should not be able to hide my double DDs... Good lord... Haha. No matter I think those should still show up. But I had on layers of clothing...
