Protective hairstyles

I need a few suggestions. Buns don't look that great because I have fine hair. I was thinking about keeping my hair up with clips, but I don't think I pin it up correctly. Can anyone post pics or tell me how to use the clips without my hair looking crazy in the back? Don't forget that I have very fine hair.

Someone posted about using a weave inforced chignon, where you wrap hair weave on the bun thingy from a BSS, which makes it LOOK like ur hair is fully the bun thingy out. I forgot who posted about that though!
