I've noticed that when I henna if I use certain products like Silicon Mix or Profectiv Break Free I get this real strong "chemically" smell and my scalp gets really sore. I've also noticed this when the stylist I tried for the first time and will never go to again used a setting lotion that she said was lottabotty but it was yellow. :ohwell:
Ever since then I've been shedding and my hair has been breaking like crazy! Has anyone had any experiences like this?

Do you use these products directly after rinsing out the henna or the next time you wash?

I haven't personally experienced this, but I remember reading on a henna thread somewhere that it's not recommended to use conditioners/products with cones when you henna. The henna doesn't mix well with cone-based conditioners, and it leaves stringy bits in people's hair. I can't explain the scalp issues you had. Have you used henna without using those other products? It could be that you have a skin allergy to the henna itself.

Both, I shampoo after I rinse the henna out then use my normal products. The silicon mix just makes this strong smell that freaks me out so I gave it away. Ever since then my hair has been shedding like crazy. I mean when I'm done washing in the shower it seems as if there shouldn't be anymore hair left on my head. This sucks!

Did you use pure henna?

It could be that you used henna with metallic salts and it is interacting with other products...?

What kind of henna are you using and where did you get it???

I used the henna from fromnaturewithlove.com along with indigo from hennaforhair.com

Could be that you're sensitive to some ingredient in the Silicon Mix and Profectiv. I would just leave those products alone.

I'd suggest that you wash, do an anti breakage protein treatment, and follow up with an extra moisturising Deep condition. Your breakage may be due to dryness, because i think Profectiv Breakfree has got some protein in it. Used after henna, this may make your hair hard?
I know henna always makes my hair hard but i loove it too much to give it up so i always do a deep conditioning treatment after rinsing out indigo from my hair.
My daily moisturiser is Profectiv breakfree, but i seal with WGHO which always makes my hair hair soft.
