Has anyone found a proven product to thicken hair? if so, how long did it take to notice a difference and where can it be found?

They don't exist, there are products to enhance volume and restore your hair to it's original healthy state which may seem to make it thicker, but there is no product that will make the hair growing from your scalp, grow thicker.
You can fill in bald patches, you can decrease your breakage and that will help with overall thickness.

erplexed i thought i had seen someone talk about Jamaican black castor oil thickening hair.
