Products for twists

What products do you normally use for twists? A pomade or a gel?

I voted other. I dry my hair (or at least until it's mostly dry) with a little coconut oil in as the leave-in and then twists sections with a little Qhemet Burdock Butter Cream on my fingers. This keeps me from having to reapply product for the entire week that I have the twists in.

These are my favorites, too! But now that it's so humid and I'm doing mostly the twistouts and don't want them to puff up much, I'm trying not to use anything humectant-y (moisture). So I'm just using coconut oil.

Good question!! My hair is twistable now, but I've tried twisting them with ORS Lock & Twist Gel, and I didn't like the hold. It's perfect for when doing coils, but not when I want some soft twists. I could be doing it wrong, I dunno. But glad you posted this question though!

I use a moisturizer and oil on my dh and dd's twists. Usually I'll lighty spray on a spray moisturizer topped with a little cream or oil moisturizer and sealed with oil.

Right now I'm using Green Grape Mist, Luxe Lushe and Macassar Oil. I wanna try Oyin's Whipped Pudding for their twists (but mostly use it for myself )

I voted other because after shampooing, DCing and ACV rinsing, I usually let my hair airdy in big plaits and then undo one at a time and twist w/o products. I'm intrigued about using coconut oil next time I do it...which will be whenever I'll get out of these braids.

I do my twists with aloe vera gel, jojoba oil, and a glycerin mix. Great hold, but soft to the touch.

I use a little light hold, moisturizing gel.

I also use lots of leave in and a little oil.

I use flax seed gel

My recipe
1 cup of distilled water
2 tablespoons of flax seeds
Simmer water and flax seeds until they slighty gel
then let them sit for about an 1 or 2
then I add a teaspoon of jojoba oil.

Holds my twist very nice and makes my hair soft.

I usually use ors lock and twist gel on my twists, it works great for me. Nice hold, but yet really soft and moisturized.

On DD I use a moisture spray (Jane Carter or Eqyss Avocado Mist), Aloe Vera gel, then Jane Carter N&S or Hollywood Beauty Castor Oil.

I'm a pj so I switch it up, my favs are ORS Loc and Twist Gel, Oyin's Shine and Define, Qhemet Biologic's Honeybush Tea Soft Hold Gel, and Curls Souffle...all give me really defined twists and soft hair. HTH

I usually twist after having my hair dry in four braids (to have less shrinkage). Then, I part, spritz with water and/or my liquid moisturizer. Then I add an oil (coconut or coconut+castor combo) and twist.
Recently, I had my hair twisted wet with shrinkage and I enjoyed the look. It was more mature-looking on me, kinda like a short cut look...without the cut. HTH

I'm transitioning and my hair is now long enough to flat twist. I have to do them wet for them to hold. I am going to try aloe vera gel to make them hold. I think I finally have this style down flat.
