I've always heard that products with lemon will lighten the hair. What do you think? I know that a lot of Elasta's products have lemon in them, including their wrap foam. And Clariol's 5X line also has lemon in the ingredients for a few of their products. For those who like their hair dark, are you steering clear of lemon and citrus in hair care products?

Generally, you'd have to have a very high concentration to lighten your hair significantly over a long period of time.

I use plenty of lemon, tangerine, lime and even grapefruit essential oils in hot oil treatments and rinses and have not had a problem. Just not huge quantities! These are excellent for scalp health, too.

And, yes, I like to enhance the darkness of my hair. Dark hair rules

I agree! You're probably right. Maybe I'll get around to buying the Clairol Renewal 5X. Thanks. By the way, I love the smell of pink grapefruit and tangerine. I like to go to bath and body stores and have them mix up lotions and sprays with those scents. Besides peppermint, those are my favorites!!!
