i would like to try a new product when blow drying my hair, i want it to come out soft, shiny and not oily, the pink oil moisturizer always worked great for my hair but gave me breakouts on my skin.

here are the products that i want to try, please let me know if you already tried it for blowdrying and how your hair turned out. also which one do you think is the best?

- keracare leave in conditioner
- keracare silken seal
- keracare silken seal liquid sheen spray
- keracare oil rich blow dry lotion
- motions salon sheen

for all the keracare products that i listed it said on their website that they all are excellent for blowdrying, isn't that confusing?????? help me out /images/graemlins/confused.gif

here is their website

Hi

I've tried and still use Keracare Silken Seal and LOVE it. I first started using it after recs from more than one hair salon when my hair was being blow dried and this stuff works. Its fantastic IMO. Its a heavy serum (I use that one, not the spray s seal). It goes on thickish (you don't use much) but it really makes the comb or brush glide through the hair, no joke. It also makes the hair come out dead straight and glass like. I know because like I said, I've had it used in mine at salons before.

Now that I've stopped blowdrying, I use it sometimes just before rollarsetting (on the ends) and it makes the comb glide through the hair sections and lets the hair lie v.flat against each rollar and therefore the hair dries nice and straight. It dries to a weightless finish too so its undetectable.

I love it and am still nursing a bottle I bought over a year ago /images/graemlins/tongue.gif It gets 2 big thumbs up. I'll def. repurchase when its finished although its so concentrated that won't be for a while. I use a dime size amount for the whole head. I've tried other serums before including Kerastase Oleo Relax one (very high end) but I gravitate back to Keracare. Its fantastic.

I've tried their leave in c but it didn't 'rock my world' so I don't know if I'd re-purchase although that too has been recc'd to me by a couple of salons (including my current hairdresser friend who always has great product recs). I still have that too and will use it up till finished. I've not used it in ages though so can't recall much of an effect it left.

ps. welcome to the board. love your hair pics /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I find that if you properly roller set your hair and use a moisturizing conditioner, there will be no need for blow drying. Last night I did an experiment on a human hair wig that I have. I washed it, roller set one side and blow dried the other side.

The roller set section was silky down to the ends, very soft, straight and bouncy.

The blow-dried section, was straight, less silkier, not bouncy, and somewhat harder than the roller set sections.

Really I have always heard this from stylists as well. They say it makes your blowdried hair come out very silky and smooth Like glass as you say .And it protects against the blowdrier heat as well.

I looked at a bottle and I thought the ingredients seemed pretty similar to one of the many 'shine' serums out there that are cyclomethicone, dimethicone based.

Do you mind posting the ingredients.?

Also do you find it hard to wash out after using? I don't mind silicones and have never had a problem but I know a lot of gals have problems with them and buildup.
Thanks BRH

Hi Nay
I got started on this blowdrying kick recently and even though my hair is natural what I really like is something called New Image Damage Free by New Image. You can buy it at Sally's (It's about to be discontinued I heard). I don't know if you have Sally's in Germany but this stuff is great. It is a heat protectant but it also kinda acts like a styling aid/smoothing balm. When I blow my hair out with a blow dryer and comb attachment my kinky curly natural hair comes out very straight. I only have to flat iron a few sections of my hair for it to look good.
It is like a creamy leave in and it is very light and not sticky.

Oh also I forgot to add since you've had great sucess with Lusters Pink Oil do you know they also make a light version? Maybe this will be a little less oily and better for your face.

I've tried the Pink Oil Light and I liked it, but I didn't like the way it smells (kinda mediciney). But it could be just me. I used to love MoistureMax Hair Oil. It's leaves the hair soft and shiney, but it doesn't weigh it down. My mom uses Motions Hair Oil in my sister's hair and that works very well on her.

I have the Silken Seal serum and if I'm not mistaken cyclomethicone and dimethicone are the only two ingredients. I'm not sure if I like it for blow-drying but I definitely like it for wet sets. However, I think I get just a good results, if not better, with Frizz Ease. It's been a while since I used it so I'm not too sure.

Hi Valleygirl. sorry taking so long to reply.

I can't respond during work hours and I've been out tonight /images/graemlins/cool.gif Anyways enough bleating....

ingredients/composition: cyclomethicone, dimethicone. That's all is says.

I've never ever had a problem with build up when using this. None whatsover. It truly does dry to non-greasy finish too. I personally don't find cones a problem. I use a clarifying shampoo once a month too.

No problem BRH
Actually I just read that someone else posted the ingredients for me also. I know all these serum type products are pretty similar in the ingredients so being that I am not buying anything else until Feb. the next time I blow dry my hair I am going to try the bottle of Smooth-n-Shine that I have sitting right here on my desk. The Smooth and Shine ingredients are:
cyclomethicone, dimethicone, phenyl Trimethicone, panthenol, silk amino acids and fragrance.
So this should have the same effect.
I know alot of the ladies at NC.com use Biosilk Silk Therapy to straighten which has pretty much the same ingredients. But I stayed away from it b/c the second ingredient is SD Alcohol. Between that and the heat my hair would be totally fried!!!
Thanks again
I will post my results here when I try it

hey amillion,
you are absolutely right. hair comes out shinier and healthier looking and also softer when you roller set it. that is exactly why i am so thankful for your other post.
how many times a week do you roller set your hair?

valleygirl,
yes i have tried the light version of the pink oil and i hated it. not did it smell worse it didn't do a good job at all.

i want to thank everybody for their posts and i think i will give the keracare a try.

I agree with AmiLion 100% on this one. And if you don't want the curls and don't want to wrap. You can lightly go over your hair after removing the rollers with a blowdryer or flat iron each curl. I feel either one of these methods are not as drying as blowdrying wet hair from scratch. It will still be shinier than just blowdrying(and not as dry looking).
