I can't seem to rinse all the conditioner out so I then put a small amount of shampoo in which leaves my hair dry and hard.

Sounds like the condish coats your hair. Have you tried using a different condish?

If you have hard water that may be the case unless you have a filter
Also as one person said it may be the conditioner if it has cones try something else
or if its thick try diluting it. I dilute my giovanni triple treat always

I am currently using Suave Tropical Coconut Conditioner and I shampoo with Hairveda Amala Deep Cleanse Shampoo for Clarifying.

Thats a fairly thin conditioner from what I remember maybe it just doesn't agree with your hair and you need 2 try another one.

I agree.

You also might try using less conditioner. You must have extra thick hair. Maybe try sectioning it in 4-6 bunches. Wash each separately and rinse well, then move to the next.

Make sure your rinsing well before you put the conditioner in - especially if you use gel or are heavy handed with products. The products might be reacting with the conditioner and making it harder to get out. If you use products with cones than you may need the shampoo to get it out.

Yes I am very heavy handed with products. I forgot to mention that I mix castor oil in my products so this could be the problem as well.

I just wish there was a shampoo out there that didn't leave my hair so hard. When I don't use shampoo, my twistouts come out soft but there seems to be leftover residue in my hair from the products.

Are you only co-washing? For me, I found that co-washing was only effective about 1-2 times a week. After that I needed to shampoo at least once in between to get maximum benefit.

Have you tried using a non clarifying (regular) shampoo? Maybe the poo your using is just too harsh for your hair on a regular basis. I had the same problem (i use olive oil in almost all my products) and I found that I need to rinse my hair for a solid 4 to 5 minutes before even applying the conditioner when i co-wash

try a clarifying conditioner.

clarifying conditioners cleanse very gently. don't leave a residue. they are sulfate free. because it is a conditioner, it will leave your hair soft (hopefully)

i use V05 clarifying key lime condish. i love it. i do shampoo from time to time, but the vo5 is my staple "cleanser".
