I was born with a streak of straw colored blonde hair.It just looks like a huge highlited area(about 500 hairs)on top my head.I have been treating my hair really well since I joined this board and no longer get split ends....except in this area no matter what I do I get splits.I don't treat it any differently than the rest of my head.I was wondering if blonde hair is just weaker than dark hair or something.Does anyone know of anything I can do to prevent splits in this area?

Katie,
Have you considered dusting that side more often?
Do you moisturize that side a bit more? Maybe you should experiment with some more moisturizers.

I have highlighted blond and red streaks and I pay particular attention to one spot...making sure it always gets well conditioned and oiled.

Is it a birthmark? I ask because I knew a guy that had a birthmark in his head and where the hair grew there it was lighter, I've seen this on someone else as well. I think that maybe there is something about it that makes it dryer or more porous than your other hair, I would pay xtra attention to that spot and use more moisturizing products there.

Thanks for responding bimbabe and ms kenesha.Yes it is a birthmark.
I think I will take your advice and start paying it extra attention...like putting more conditioner on the spot, and prolly using more leave-in there too. That should be ok I hope.
I just hate having to have it cut so much due to splits.
