That sock curling looks pretty easy. I would add a step and cover it with a nylon knee high. Long ago, strips of fabric (or rags) was used to curl the hair like this.

Thanks for the link Carlita! Pretty (and interesting) styles and I will have to try the sock thing because I sometimes depend on my bun for curls but as the lady mentioned, the bun doesn't produce even curls on both sides of the head.

The other thing I need to do is practice with the chopsticks. I have a pair of them but can't get them to hold my hair in place for the life of me. All this time, I have been thinking that people really have hair pins to hold their hair in place and just put the chopsticks in for decoration!!

My mom used to do a variation of the sock curl on my hair when i was little but she would use piecs of cloth or paper towel. She would moisturize the ends well before rolling up the hair and it would make the prettiest curls. I think I may go back to trying this methods.
