Hello,
I just found out on 11-18-09 that I am pregnat with estimated due date of 1/18/10. Questions that I have:

Do I need to stop relaxing my hair for the remainder of the time?
Do I need to stop using MN on my scalp?
Do I need to stop using Meg-Tek on my scalp?
What is some "Safe" hair products to use as in " coconut oil, castor oil and so forth"?
Do I need to still use my emu oil?

Please advise, this is my first pregnacy and as you can tell by the first couple of lines above I need to start taking immediate actions with my hair.

Thanks and God Bless

You just found out you were preggo at 7 months? :look:

I relaxed my hair, but it didn't take. I would judt put yor hair away in braids or maybe a wig until you have the baby.

You are due in TWO months? WOW! I have relaxed with all three of my pregnancies. Now 8wks into the fourth. I have no experience with anything else. Congrats!

Yep they say two months just like the show on TV "I Don't Know I was Pregnant" It is long story but I am hoping the estimated date is wrong. What about the MN or the Meg-Tek?

I'd avoid relaxers til after birth. Stick with braids and wigs.

as for megtek and what not, 'd avoid them too.

NO ROSEMARY OIL

I wouldn't risk a relaxer or growth aids while you have a vulnerable developing baby on board, switch to all natural in terms of what you eat and what you put on your body.

Put your hair away in braids or my personal fave senegalese twist extensions till you have the baby.

I went totally natural when I found out I was pregnant..few little chemicals as possible...2 months is not that long...congratulations.

The reason they tell you to not do any chemical service while pregnant is because the hair biology is totally different. Most relaxers or perm won't take for some reason. Ask your OBGYN they will tell you more information.

Congratulations!!!! :dance7: Babies are a blessing, no matter what the circumstances are. :yep:

As for the MT and OCT, I stopped using those while I was pregnant, mainly because I don't understand WHY they work. I know HOW, but not WHY - and that scared me. Not knowing how it altered my body's chemistry to produce such rapid growth was an acceptable risk for ME, but not my unborn child.

So anything I had to question, I didn't use. :nono:

Again, congratulations, and we want pics of that sweet angel when he/she makes their grand entrance. :yep:

That does make sense, I will stick with all natural oils, learn how to stretch relaxer and try some braids. Thanks

I stretched throughout my whole pregnancy with my son and I am expecting again and will do the same. Trust me, your hair will thank you for the break. My hair grew so much and was so thick; my family couldn't believe it!

i would stop using the chemicals and growth aids until after the pregnancy, and try to use mostly nautral products to be on the safe side.

Did you still experience alot of postpartum hair loss with the streching or do you feel it helped minimized the shedding?

It's interesting because I read a thread about pregnancy and hair growth and many of the ladies reported postpartum shedding and breakage issues. I personally haven't experienced any postpartum shedding after having my son. I just enjoyed a longer, thicker head of hair. The thing is, I didn't relax immediately after giving birth. I still waited another seven weeks. I think stretching may have helped, maybe it made my hair stronger?

That is a looonnngggg stretch! Any tips? Did you flat iron?

excuse the dumb a$$ness i'm about to bring to the thread, but i have no kids there for i'm a bit slow lol

but if you're due in jan, and you've relaxed through out the pregnancy (due to not knowing of course), then wouldnt 2 months not really matter? i mean all the parts are made already right?!?!?

if i'm totally wrong, please dont jump down my throat... and explain, cause i believe i may be confusedefied. also i once had a friend who relaxed though out her pregnancy...but she also smoked and at poorly so i dunno if she's the best example to use

I never knew that your hair won't relax well if you're preggo. My friend relaxed through her pregnancy and it took just as well as always.

Hey girlie!!

Not a dumb question at all. In fact you said what others were thinking.

I actually didn't use any heat during this period. I used a no manipulation method. I used wigs and braids to see me through my whole stretch. Now, this was pre LHCF, so I wasn't moisturizing, washing, or DC'ing often and I still got great results. This time around, I am armed with more knowledge, so I am looking forward to even better results.

That is a very good question, according to the Doctor my due date is in Jan but if the main reason for "not using chemicals" is because the baby is forming than technically I am passed that point and what does it matter?! My reason for asking is if I may have or could have or could still cause damage to the baby I want to know right here and now and stop what I am doing until after the birth of the child.

good point... and i dont have an answer, i dunno about babies :look: lol

What I am concerned about is going this long with no pre-natal care, I just do not want to contribute to any damage or any more damage, What I am hoping is that the estimated due date is wrong but I will not know for sure until Monday. But still that is a very good question and maybe that is why my husband said I will continue relaxing my hair considering what the doctor says about how far along I am.

very true... let us know what the dr says. also like others have said, ask the doctor if its ok to relax... and then share that with us lol
