Are there any particular things that you do to your hair the night before or a few hours before your relaxer? I'm thinking that I won't MTG tonight and I'll just base my hair for tomorrows' relaxer.

When last did you apply MTG? When I relaxed on june 10 I applied MTG two days before.. and whoa did it burn like hell!!!! I had to wash out the relaxer early ended up with underprocessed hair.... Be careful...just base really really WELL!!
This relaxer I stopped using MTG a week before and there was no burning :D

Spray my roots with water, spray the rest of my hair with leave-in conditioner. Base my scalp.

Why do you spray your roots? Just curious

I usually make sure I comb my hair gently because chances are I have had my hair up in a ponytail and havent combed it in a couple of days.....my hair is thick and combing it when I need a touchup can be tricky.

I also put a protector on my ends...

Co-signing the MTG burning like fire. I used MTG 4-5 before relaxing and I too burned. So next time I will stop using MTG a week or two before I relax.

Usually I wash 4-5 days before relaxing and base my scalp the night before. I also blowdry on the last wash before, so that my new growth is manageable (sp?).

I do it to make it easier for me see the new growth. I self texturize and I try to get the whole thing applied in under 10 min.

I oil my scalp the night before. Also, I use Aveda Elixir on my edges so they are protected during the relaxing process. I always have my hairstylist do my edges last so they aren't overprocessed.
