Hey everyone! I recently bought the Now brand powdered kelp for hair health and weight loss and I can't figure out how to take it without gagging. I tried mixing it with water and its like drinking dirt water. And I also tried sprinkling it on soul food (wont't even think about putting on my desserts)and it taste so gritty. How do you take your powdered kelp?

Hi, I take kelp capsules. They smell bad, but I just knock em' back with water. If you absolutely can't tolerate the taste,, then you could buy empty capsules, scoop up the powder, seal them and then swallow them that way. I think that you can get empty caps in the health food store. Or you could make a smoothie with some fruit and yogurt or whatever you like, add the powder and drink it down. The benefits of kelp far outweigh it's

taste. HTH

Thanks honeebutta! I'll look for some empty capsules this weekend. By the way, how long have you been taking kelp, and do you notice in difference in hair and body?

I had a bf who took it last year and lost a lot of weight. He had the NOW powdered brand and sprinkled it on his food, even his junk food, at every meal and still lost weight. He said he didn't really taste it all that much.

Many health food stores carry it also. It's pretty inexpensive.

Sorry it took me so long to respond Mystiquesista! I haven't been online that much in the last two weeks. Firstly, your more than welcome for the info. Secondly, I haven't been taking the kelp capsules for that long, maybe a month or so. From what I've heard, it can take 1-3 months before you can see the effects of supplements.HTH

That could be true for hair results but the weight results I witnessed from sprinklig the powder on food was pretty fast, like a in a few days.

Maybe it's the taste that helps you lose weight

. But if it's working for you ladies, then I wish you well. BTW That statement wasn't meant to come off as mean but encouraging.

what are the benefits of Kelp?

Iodine which kelp contains a high concentration of, normalizes the thyroid. Those underweight will gain and those overweight will lose. People with thyroid problems should consult their doctors first before taking kelp. It's also great for the hair as all seaweed is. There are many more benefits also.
