ponytail w/ own hair

Anytime you pull your hair in a certain position, you run the risk of causing breakage from the stress of being pulled.
You just take it easy and if you feel any spots that could be pulling, undo the ponytail and re "tie" it looser.
I wear a pony tail dang near every day but it's so loose, it usually slips out before the day is done.
Sometimes I do a tight tail and not only do I feel little sopts that are pulling in my hair, but my foreheada will dry out from the tension.

yes it can. I'm a bunner and I try to wear my hair a little different week to week; sometimes I part in the middle, or the left, or the right. I do side buns, low ones and high ones.

Anything so that I'm not putting stress in the same areas all the time.

do make sure that its not too tight too, that can cause stress around the edges and nape.

If it's truly loose, it should be okay. Still, it's better to vary the position of the ponytail. I agree with Mermaid that you should undo/redo if you feel it pulling.

Also, make sure you keep your edges and nape well moisturized. I bun or wear my hair up constantly and make sure I moisturize morning and night. Dry edges will break just from being constantly exposed; they don't even have to be tight. At least mine don't.:perplexed

if not worn too tight, will wearing a simple ponytail every day cause breakage?

I wear my hair in a ponytail lightly pulled back with my ends baggied and I get NO breakage. But, my ponytail is very loose! I have been wearing my hair like this since joining.
