Hey Everyone /images/graemlins/wave.gif

I have gotten a lot of requests for the little blue clip I have shown in my Protective Styles album. It's great for making buns/ponytails and since there's no elastic (just "teeth" like a little comb), it's non-damaging!

The problem is that I got it so long ago and I haven't been able to find them anymore. It's made by Goody, and I originally purchased it in Chicago at Sally.

If anyone happens to stumble across them somewhere, please let us know! I've started my search again so if I find them I'll let ya'll know.

I believe this url will take you there:

Thanks,

I LOVE YOUR BUN!!! That clip looks interesting. I've never seen it before, but I'll keep an eye out for them. I'm going to try that bun. I bought some open bobby pins like you use and I'll try it over the weekend.

Thanks for sharing. KT

SG, those holders are hard to find i think they stopped making them a long time ago along with banana clips i don't know the last time i've seen one of those other than on this board

Thanks Ladies /images/graemlins/smile.gif

You're right, it is like a banana clip so I guess they have stopped making them which explains why they're so darn hard to find /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Ms Jennifer- It's super easy to do- once you put it in a ponytail, take 1 section at a time and fold it over the clip and secure it w/a bobby pin. I only use about 5 or 6 of the pins that are open (so they don't hurt).

Kitchen- let me know how it turns out this weekend!!

Thanks Tonya!

I'm all envious of your hair now!! As far as length, you really don't have to have long hair to do this bun. I've worn this style with my hair MUCH shorter and it still worked. If the hair in the center of your head is longer than the back, you can do the bun up higher and it'll be bigger (like the "steroid bun" pictures I have /images/graemlins/smile.gif). Since your're making individual sections before pinning, just kind of feather the hair out a bit before securing the pin. Also, it's done after air-drying with no heat so it's not super-straight, which adds more volume.

I'm not sure...I may have to check to make sure it's the same thing, but a couple of weeks ago me and a friend put together a birthday goody basket together for a friend and I think it had one of those in it. We got everything at Big Lots.

Wow, SG, you have beautiful hair. I've never seen this hair comb but I use something similar to make my buns, like the one in my avatar. I overlap my sections and then tuck and secure my ends w/good hair days pins. Looks great on top or in the back /images/graemlins/wink.gif . I'm on the hunt now for this comb, b/c mine hasn't always been so kind to my hair /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif.

I think the next time I rollerset I'm going to try the pin curls. I'm not sure they would work well on my half dried texturized hair /images/graemlins/nono.gif. You look like a hair model in those result pics /images/graemlins/smile.gif. Thanks for sharing!

you're bun is so elegant! I really like it alot. I saw a style similar to it in a fashion mag the only difference was they put a flower hair accessory in the model's hair on the side of the bun. I think your hair looks really nice, nice an thick, you have a great pony tail too!

That is absolutely one of the most beautiful buns I have ever seen. I am literally picking my mouth up off the floor, lol. I get so used to my boring every day buns, it's nice to see other variations. WOW, I must really try that.

You have really beautiful, thick hair! I'm going to look for that clip this weekend. There's this beauty supply store in a nearby town, complete with security gates not only on the windows but the area between the door and the parking spaces! Anyway, I always go there when I need something hard to find. Maybe they'll have the clip.

Thanks so much for all the great feedback Ladies /images/graemlins/kiss.gif

Sorry it took a few days to get back, but I'm back to computer access during work hours only for a few days again while my laptop is out.

I'm glad you all like by bun, but I'm just REALLY happy to able to give you a few ideas. All of us that wera buns know they can get a wee bit boring, so it's nice to be able to mix it up a bit.

Love ya,

SG

Your hair is so beautiful. I can't wait to try this out this weekend. My hair is not your length yet SG but I know I'll get there soon. Your creativity is the bomb SG!
