I didn't know that their hair was that fragile... here is a post of a french well-known fashion blogger who talk about it.

I'm really surprised what're your thoughts???

My ponytail

I thought I had found an elegant alternative do the deconstructed bun (yes, deconstructed, it’s a MEGA EUPHEMISM)(meaning do it super fast) that just so happened to make me seem like I wanted to be 18 all over again and that I was a liberal arts major with a theater minor.
I was totally excited when I started doing ponytails, and Scott too, because I came to understand that the ponytail gives off this sexy bourgeoise vibe — Sexy works in mysterious ways –.
I was thrilled, right up until I showed my hairdresser my hair, quite damaged, and she says to me, “It’s because you wear it up too much! Every time I see you, you have your hair up. You wear it up and that’s great and all, but it’ll break it, not so good.”
And she put me on a hair-down-diet.
I can only put it up in a lose bun, like Marybeth, who apparently knows all this and has sublime hair.
In all seriousness, living without putting your hair up is harder than quitting cigarettes. Right now, as I’m talking to you, my hair is up, I’m such a REBEL. I think I’m going off to liberal arts school. Theater minor.

This is why I don't wear ponytails often. If I do it wear it very loose. I prefer to wear my hair in a bun (with ho ponytail holder). I just wrap the hair around itself and use a very small clip to hold the ends.

I say wearing TIGHT ponytails of any hair texture will break off your hair. You also need to change the position of your ponytails on a regular basis so you don't weaken the hair around the area you place the holder. It's all about technique :yep:

When I was in BCT (basic training) alot of the white girls had their hair breaking. Some of them ever had the little bumps in the back of their nape area due to pulling their ponytail so tight. From what I saw, it was breaking because they were putting to much gel their hair. Not to mention putting the bun in the same spot everyday.

Well they're human. They have hair growing out of their scalps not copper wire. Hair is hair.

I don't know why people think that white people's hair is invincible. I see many white girls with jacked up hair. Ironically enough, the ones with the prettiest heads of hair tend to be the curlies.

This isn't surprising. Heat protectant, shampoos for damaged hair, and no damage elastics are for everyone...I saw a yt lady talking about how Curlformers damaged her hair on youtube. I can imagine the weight of them pulled on her fine strands ('cause they really are heavy).

Kourtney Kardashian's hair is so thin and short without the weave, but the weaves and ponytails are causing her edges to thin very badly. It looks terrible.

You're right but we're so proned to believe that our hair are the most fragile,...the most this and that.... Every kind of hair has their own vulnerability.
