ROFL y'all are even sillier than I am. I just got home from class and needed a laugh and I knew I could count on y'all!

I find it ironic, though that we are all here so obsessed with our hair(I know, I know, speak for myself, right??LOL), yet we would trade it for beauty. Of course it makes sense, but I thought more ppl would say they would rather have the hair.

You are right, there are always wigs and weaves!

And like a couple of you mentioned, hair doesnt make or break you, but it definitely compliments beauty. NICE PRETTY HEALTHY hair, no matter the texture or length can really bring out someones beauty, Just like tore up hair can really take away from ones looks.

I have a friend who Id like to hold down with some scissors bc her hair looks a mess, but she is pretty, u just cant tell bc the first thing you notice is her badly damaged dull hair. She just started rocking a cute weave and girl is looking like a model.

lll even admit that my hair used to look TORE UP back in the day(middle/high school, I didnt know better, and ppl who see me now think I look a million times better. Ive really come up, they would say...lol.

Beautiful with no hair. Mos def.

I have to be the devil's advocate: UGLY WITH BEAUTIFUL HAIR.

Think about it (in the society's eye of course). There are a few exceptions with short hair (Halle Berry), but most women who are considered "beautiful" have long hair. Yes we know that Beyonce is beautiful, but if her hair wasn't long and straight or whatever do you really think she would be getting as many raves and attention? It isn't a coincidence ladies. A lot of times women with long hair who are *okay* looking get more attention than women having short. And in fact our own race (black folk) put lots of emphasis on long hair. Many black women when seeing a black person with long hair they say "IS YOU MIXED or YOU GOT SOME INDIAN IN YOU?" Long hair is just apart of this "American society" and is a sign of beauty. And black people pay more emphasis on long hair because less of us have it.

What is beauty?--> Hair, face, body and a little bit of style (clothes).

Example 1: Britney Spears, the pop diva of the world, had always had long hair. And then on the "Crossroads" movie and during that time she cut her hair. She received so many bad reviews and critics coming at her neck that shortly after she threw some weave in it to make it long again.

Example 2: Why do we have weave?--> 1) to change up styles 2) to protect the hair 3) TO ENHANCE BEAUTY.
Why are so many people paying hundreds of dollars for weave? It isn't just because its a change, but most of the time it is because we think that its beautiful and flowing. And why do we think its beautiful? Because it is long.

I don't mean to sound all serious, but personally I think that hair is sometimes payed a lot attention on in the society, at work, at home and on television. It's just a thought.

good opinion however i dont think my hair has anything to do with my attractiveness. only because im getting just as much play as i did with long hair. It depends on what the person likes.

What I really think attracts people is flawless skin

Not to offend anyone but I'd rather have three inches of hair with flawless skin, than long shiny lustrous waist length w/ cystic acne. buy hey thats my opinion

Good point! Never seen it this way.

But look at Jada Pinkett...she's beautiful with and without long hair. She could be an exception too. It all depends on what the person looks like. There's some out there that are beautiful with long hair but ugly with short hair. Some may be the opposite. Some might have it even worse...ugly with short and long hair (like that Katie girl that was on America's Top Model

).

ITA with Ayeshia.....I'd rather have three inches of hair with flawless skin. My first obsession is FLAWLESS skin then hair.

I have to agree with more attention goes to those with long hair but I will still pick beautiful with no hair.

But to add on to the attention thing. It all adds to instinct...long full hair, full hips all in have been an attractive quaility because it is a sign of fertility. Basic instinct is the find the better person to mate with for stronger off spring.

The main reason Black women so rarely have long hair these days is because of hair abuse.Back in the day before relaxers were common ground and curling irons and such hair abuse the average black woman did have long hair, though unstraightened and did not seem as long.

I actually got more play, particularly from white men, when I did the BIG CHOP and had a TWA. So here I am thinking that no man would give me the time of day, not to mention the fact that I was a little thicker, too! Hair is a woman's crowing glory. I don't dispute that, but like everything else, standards of beauty do change and people are more open-minded and accepting...even of natural hair.

I'll do you one better...

UGLY AND BALD ....but smart as a whip.
wink.gif

But I'd rather be thin than any of them. And I'd be dumb, bald and ugly if I could be...

GORGEOUS with no hair because sometimes *this is a mean thought* I'll see someone with really pretty long hair that's unattractive and I'll think "What a waste!"

Dee, you ARE in fact very beautiful:) u go girl! my head is way too big for those kind of styles though...lol;)

hmmm....this is a very interesting topic. I posted something earlier and that's still the way it is. Long hair is in and will always be in. But on a personal note, earlier I was playing the devil's advocate, but I really have to say beautiful and bald. Hell...everyone else is wearing weave, so it wouldn't be a crime to throw some in my head.
