Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

in your regimen that you're thankful for discovering because it's done wonders for your hair??

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

Probably adding Blackstrap Molasses to my conditioner (used with cap and heat).

It adds incredible 'richness' to my hair and seems to moisturize as well.

Wow /images/graemlins/laugh.gif my first post. I use meadowfoam oil once a week for a preshampoo treatment.

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

Oooh, this sounds intriguing! What does meadowform oil do for your hair, and where do you get it? I love experimenting with oils! Welcome to the boards! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

Avocado oil mixed in with conditioner. I use this after shampooing when my hair is feeling extra dry from the cold weather, and it makes my hair feel soooo soft. Best of all, the moisture and softness lasts for days.

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

ylang-ylang mixed with coconut oil. Does wonders for your scalp

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

I would have to say jojoba and coconut oils. They make my hair really soft.

If not, Tea Tree oil is about as exotic as my regimen gets ...lol! I use it to soothe the itches.

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

I'm so thankful for unrefined coconut oil that I threw all the grease I had in my house away! I know it's not exotic, but it works so well for me...

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

a mixture of castor, jojoba, and rosemary oils and aloe vera gel.

Where do you buy blackstrap molasses? TIA!

I've edited this to say nix the question. I've found it!

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

I would say my carrot oil, because it leaves my hair soft and lightly moisturized, without a lot of heaviness that would weigh my medium-fine hair down. I even mixed it with my henna, reconstructor and my leave-in conditioner.

That's interesting GiGi. Do you like your hair smelling like coconuts?

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

I've used castor oil over the years. Just bought some rosemary oil and tea tree oil today. These are essential oils Haven't figured out proportions yet, but ya'll will tell me right?

BTW, what the heck is carrot oil really??? From my years of failed dieting, I know carrots are a fat free food. So where does the "Oil" come from?

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

SherryLove...how do you use the aloe vera gel? You don't use it in your oil mixture do you? Also what brand do you use?

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

Frpom what I understand there are two carrot oils: One is carrotseed oil which is made fron the seed and the other is carrot-infused oil. This is made by infusing carrot into an oil of choice.

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

LD, carrot oil is derived from the carrot seed before it is distilled into the oil. The color of the oil is a yellowish or a brownish hue, and not an orange color of that of a carrot. You can find carrot oil in health food stores or online. Because of the beta-carrotene that's in carrots and such, it's an antioxidant, and it can really make a difference in skin, hair and nails by the amount used either externally or internally.

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

When i first began my regime, EVOO was most the "exotic" thing... not sure which is "most" exotic now ...

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

Jojoba oil and almond oil are the most exotic oils I've used thus far!
I would like to try avocado and hazelnut oils.

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

Mango butter -- well it sounds exotic to me anyway. I grew up with a mango tree in my back yard so to think they made a "butter" lol. Anyhoo it makes my hair soft and moisturized.

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

S-curl and mango butter used together. With these two in tow my hair is extra soft and moisturized.

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

monoi oil. even though it falls out of my rotation alot, i always end up coming back to it!

Re: Poll: What\'s the most exotic ingredient...

Does anyone combine their own oils in a separate container and use it like a store bought oil (i.e. Hot six)?

I'm thinking about combining my unrefined coconut oil, jojoba, and avocado oil and using it daily on my hair but I'm not sure how whey will react with each other and which amounts of each to put in.

Does anyone have experience w/this?
