only for appearance purposes. I protective style 99% of the time so it is no biggie for me. If you want to wear your hair down it may be

Only if you're wearing it straight. If the ends are healthy, but uneven, I think rollersets/twistouts are better for hiding them.

No it's not necessary; but if even hair ends are your thing and looks best per your hairstyle; then yea you should keep them even. I personally like wild, sexy flowing hair that ends with the V shape. So precise even hair ends are not needed to achieve my hairstyle.

I like hair like too. If having a precision bob is your thing then yes, you need to even your ends. I rollerset my hair and when it isn't rollerset I wear it in a clip so I don't really even my ends. Most people who have trimmed my hair have always tried to even me up which has resulted in many inches lost.

What she said. I wouldn't cut unless it was ridiculously uneven. Sometimes hair just grows that way & lots of people lose valuable progress trimming all the time when they don't need to.

I like hair that is balanced. I just got my ends evened up (posted a thread about it) because it looked like I was growing out of a mullett. It was not something I wanted to continue to battle with (sides significantly shorter than the back) so I had the guy take off about an inch from the back and now I feel like I can just concentrate on growing instead of "My sides are shorter than the back."

Yes. It hold your style better. Besides who wants straggly looking ends. My hair is no shorter and I have been trimming it for years at touch up time.

I voted no. I don't wear my hair out so I don't think it's necessary. Also, I don't think trimming your ends can affect your growth.

My ends seem to get more and more damaged the more uneven they are. I even them up, and walla, everything's all better. It's like the ones sticking out from the rest catch the most hell.

I kind of agree. I was considering not evening them, but think about those 25 long hairs that get abused. poor things.

I won't cut my ends if they aren't damaged. An even hemline isn't important to me. I prefer a v or u shape anyway. Also, I don't wear my hair straight and rarely wear it down. So I might feel differently if I did.

I did not vote - I do not think that trimming your hair accelerates the rate of growth; however, I do think that a trim makes your hair look better. V U or blunt - even is prettier to me.

If the person wears protective or updos than no.

If they wear it down or straight than YES! I hate very unenven ends. I think uneven ends cheapen the look of long hair. Well trimmed ends always make the overall package hair/person look more stylish and put together. I also think that it can compensate for the loss in length by giving the appearance of thicker hair. I got more compliments on my hair after it was evened than when it was longer, but thin/uneven.

I don't think it's necessary but it bothers me so bad:wallbash:. I feel lop-sided if I don't even up. I'm going through this problem right now.:nono:

If they aren't damaged, I leave them alone. I would trim/cut if my ends became extremely uneven, like inches in difference. However, I would try to wait, because sometimes my hair evens up on it's own.

I don't trim AT ALL,only dust when I find a split end...I have natural layers,so it falls in a V shape when I wear it straight...as long as my ends are not damaged/split,who cares if its even...as long as its healthy :)...maybe once I reach MBL,I will even it...but only then;)

I said nope. If they are healthy. When my ends get even a little uneven I want to cut. But my husband said that if It was even when I cut it and it is uneven now with no splits that later on when those other hairs grow it will become even again(If that makes sense). Thats just how hair grows. But if it it's just ridiculously uneven and you wear it straight, I would trim it so fast because it would bug me.

POKAHONTAS>>your waist length!!!!!!!!!!!!Congratulations ..is this the first time? How wonderful :wow::wow::wow:

i don't think so if you are constantly wearing protective style. if your hair is out then for esthitic reasons i would like a trim.

I don't wear my hair out so I don't trim and I don't plan on it until next summer.

girl you betta leave it alone :lachen:

you usually wear your hair curly so if it's a bit uneven it's not even noticeable.

i don't trim for the sake of evenness, like someone else mentioned earlier, you're just trimming all your progress. there are ways to create an even look without cutting (bumping your ends or using a few curlers) leave it alone unless 1) it's damaged or 2) you're wearing your hair in a high fashion precision cut that relies on perfectly straight lines to look right.

but, that's jmho

ITA...I only dust when I find those damaged/split ends. Lately since I have eliminated heat, that has been far and few in btwn.
