I have been wearing my hair in a protective bun for about 4 months. I can't tell a difference in lentgh or thickness. I wash about 3 times a week and I mositurize daily!! I just recently started using the S-curl moisturizer and Elasta QP Mango butter ( thanks to you all) . I can already tell the difference. I really want a head full of healthy hair. Ever time I talk to I friends ( I'm the only one with hair issues) about hair they are like " your hair it not going to ever get back long" or " its so thick and nappy, you might as well get it cut" or better yet my mom asked me last night " I don't know why your hair won't grow". All of these comments really make me want to grow heathly long hair (fast)! WHAT CAN I DO???? :a

Don't feel discouraged. Sometimes it takes time and TLC to see results. Don't allow other people's comments to get you down. Just keep doing what your doing and make it your goal to prove them wrong, that your hair can grow long

It sounds like you are doing really well. You're wearing protective styles and you are moisturizing your hair. I assume you are sealing the ends and sleeping in a silk or satin scarf at night too. Just continue to be gentle with your hair, use the widest tooth comb you can find, and make sure you are using a good detangling shampoo and moisturizing conditioner.

If you are experiencing any hair issues such as dryness, breakage, etc., make sure you post those questions/concerns. These ladies have a lot of good advice to offer.

i would say to keep doing what you're doing!! i'm not sure what you were using before, but the new products provide lots of moisture. if you continue with those and the protective style, i think you'll be pleasantly surprised in a few months.

don't listen to anyone who tries to discourage you. they don't know what we do. you CAN grow your hair long!!

Are you sure you're not cutting off too much, dear?

(How often do you get a trim). Also, I think the buns help to keep what thickness you have. IF you've suffered tons of breakage in the past, it may actually take new hair growing out without breaking for you to see your thickness. For real, it happened to me. Even though I got smooth and silky results almost right away, months after I started taking care of my hair I finally started noticing the newest inches were thicker than the rest of my length.

GF, I want you to read an inspiration thread I wrote a while back. I have to go back to look at it and the replies from time to time for a pick me up.

For the ladies with short hair but long hair goals

Please don't get discouraged. This process takes time, lots of TLC and patience. You will get there sooner than you think with the help and advice of the ladies on this board.
Happy Hair Growing!

Don't let people get you down as long as you keep up with your healthy hair habits your hair will grow and then people will be wishing that they had hair like yours. And anyone who tells you " its so thick and nappy, you might as well get it cut" needs to be cut off as a friend!

Don't get discouraged. I'm always being told by people with "thinner" hair that I need a hair cut, but I know my thick hair is a blessing (and also due to taking good care of my hair). Keep up the conditioning washes, wearing your protective styles & moisturizing (I too rely on the S-curl & have for like the past 6 years) and don't trim too often otherwise it will be harder for you to tell if your hair is getting longer or not. Best of luck to ya

yeah , people said the same thing to me, that my hair wont grow, but for the first time in my life my hair is growin and im keeping it...u can do it, with patience ,care and this board...i know u can!!

Thank You ALL sooo much! I have never in my adult life been more excited about my hair. I really do feel like I can make progress. And I feel this way ALL because of the wonderful forum. Please overlook the voting box at the end of my post ( this is my 1st one). I had no idea what I was doing.

You can do it. Just hang in there. You're definitely on the right track and, while I'm new, I can definitely say without doubt you are in the right place!

I've been feeling the same way lately. But I remember whether I notice length or not...my hair is in better condition now then it was 6 months or even 6 weeks ago. Everyday that we do something beneficial for our hair is getting us closer to our goal. I've started writing down when I do something different in my regi and record how my hair responds. Also don't forget to take pics that way you can visually track your progress and not rely on your memory. The pics are what stopped me from cutting my hair off and starting from scratch last week  We'll get to hair heaven together!
