About 20 years ago I had a Jherri Curl (during the craze when everyon had one). For the first time in my life, my hair grew to my shoulders. Prior to that, My hair would never get past my ears. In college, I started blowdrying and hot curling my hair. Looked great but a lot of work and it probably would have become damaged anyway after a while. Anyway, I got my first relaxer at the age of 20 and my hair has never been long since then (except when I had silky locs in and that was because I kept re-doing them and experienced mega growth). Every now and then, my mother reminds me how well my hair did with the curl "Its because of all the moisture" she said. Well of course seh was right but I refuse to get another curl at this point because its not a look that I want. I see that lots of sisters on this board use S Curl to moisturize. What brand? Exactly which product in the S Curl line? Do I apply to scalp or just hair? Will it "revert" my roller set or blow out? Please advise....

Thanks! Im addicted to this board now after only three days!!!! My hair looks and feels better already after developing a regimen!

I had to giggle at that statement!

I think most of the women with relaxed hair use this one when they are wearing their hair air dried, in a bun or in a braid/twist-out style.

I don't think it would work with a roller set or blow out style because the hair remains a little bit damp all day...

I use s-curl in the blue and white bottle. Matter of fact, I just used some this mornin after washing my hair. I just spray it on my wt hair and slick it into a ponytail. Then I spray some on my ends. I love how it my my hair air dry soft!! You should try it!

Hi lunalight, I have relaxed hair and LOVE using Scurl and it doesn't make the hair revert or break.

I use the one in the spray, not the gel. Its in a white bottle with blue writing 'SCurl No Drip' Activator. I got started on using after Adrienne who so kindly explained why she liked it and how it helps retain moisture (and therefore avoid drying and hair breakage).

I don't use it for rollarsets or when I wear my hair straight. I use it for air dry days. I do a conditioner wash then spray it all over (not too much), put some leave in (or vaseline on ends, just started doing this too) and pin into a bun or do a braid out. The hair dries soft and not dry and frizzed which would normally happen to me.

It took alot of board reading and convincing for me to get my head round using a curl actvitor on relaxed hair but it works like a charm. I'm so glad I took the chance.

Thanks Sassy and kamilla ! I will use over the summer since I don't have air conditioning and Bronx summers can be a haze on the hair. Last summer, it was so hot and humid up in this piece that I rinsed my hair daily and wore in a pigtail. That was before I learned the benefits of daily rinsing and moisturizing. This summer I'll be prepared with leave ins and other great hair goodies. Thanks for the website pic Sassy....

I just used it today for the first time. Actually I went to Wal Mart yesterday with my husband and I tried to sneak it in the basket because I KNEW he was going to clown me about buying curl activator...and sure enough he did! We got up to the register and he held it up and was like "S-CURL?!...didn't that look go out in the early 90's?! So then I had to explain to the cashier that I was using it to keep my hair moist and to make it grow. She had really full and thick hair and she turned to my husband and said that she had been using it for about six months and that her hair use to be really short and dry. So I guess there are some good benefits to using S-curl. I washed my hair this morning and applied the s-curl...pulled it back in a ponytail and it has dried so nice and smooth. Feels good too. So I'm going to try it for a month and see how it works for me. So far so good! I say try it. It only costs about $5 for the big bottle in Wal Mart.

After wonderful advice from the girls here on the board,I too, started using S curl for my braid outs and I am glad I did. I started using it in my last week before my touch up and we all know there is major new growth then. Anyway it made my new growth so soft and thus my braid out was da bomb!!!! I love S curl. It makes my hair hang down really well and it helps with shrinkage.
