I want to wear it down for this weekend, but it always frays on my clothes. Do ya'll walk around wearing silk or satin blouses all the time so your hair doesn't get tore up on your clothes. If anyone has the answer I'm sure ya'll do.

Nope, I don't walk around wearing silk or satin blouses each time I wear my hair down. I just make sure I have my hair well protected with a good moisturizer. This always does the trick for me.

I agree. I rarely wear my hair down anymore but if I do, I try to make sure it's very moisturized. I do know someone who wears a silk or satin scarf around her shoulders when she wears her hair down, though. Perhaps you could try that if you are very worried.

So just putting a little extra grease on the ends will keep it from breaking? Since I've come to LHCF I've never worn my hair down. It's always in a bun and baggie. I take it out to wash and deep condition, then up it goes. So I am really clueless with this.

Awww honey, don't be afraid to enjoy your long beautiful locs. I wear my hair down every day and it is about 2 inches from arm pit. If your hair has a weak strand(s) then it's going to break regardless of how you style it.
The important thing to remember is when u wear the hair down...it looses moisture faster than u wearing a bun...so you will have to moisturize on a daily basis and wash AT LEAST once a week to replace lost moisture.
I noticed that when i was trying the air-drying method (then flat-iron), and I wore my hair down...a few hair strands would break if I played with my hair. Now I blow-dry straight (without a flat-iron) my hair on low and I am always sure to use alot of moisturizers/ oils in the drying process. My hair comes out silky and it does not break even when i wear it down every day. I'll either wear it straight without any heat or curls. Or i'll use steamrollers for bouncy curls. And when i get home I use a dab of moisturizer and a dab of oil sheen to replace any moisture that was rubbed on my shirt. ENJOY YOUR PRETTY HAIR....

I know what you mean! I've been wearing baggie buns for so long now that I feel scared to wear my hair down because I know its not being protected.

I think you have got to be a little bit relaxed about it sometimes though. After every relaxer I wear mine down for about 2 weeks and just enjoy it then I go right back to my cornrows at the front and bun baggie at the back. There's no point growing our hair if we can't enjoy it a little bit is there? ;)
