HI ladies I am in desperate need of help.I have a hair dilema. when I was little I had nice long hair, then at about 14 I began self perming my hair which eventually caused it to fall out.now I am 22, and my hair still won't come back, i've cut it off, braids, tried press and curls, cold waves, weaves, bonded, and sewn.I can not seem to get my hair to grow,I take hair vitamins, prenatal vitamin.
I didn't try all these things at once so please dont think of me as being silly.I would just leave it alone but my hair isn't even long enough to put in a ponytail.I'm going crazy over my hair I barely go out anymore because it's such a mess.I would go natural but I have a bald spot on the both sides of my head right behind my ears.It does have alittle length but nothing to brag about,it always get to one length the nape of my neck then begins to fall out again.I have been to see specialist and they say I have a very healthy scalp.other than that I need some T.L.C
I get on here just about every day and read about all of your hair accomplishments and finally have gotten the courage to ask for help.I'm not really sure what my hair type is but it's black and nappy.........no doubt. please help if you can.

Whoever told you TLC was what you needed was correct. It takes a lot of effort to get healthy growing hair, but its so worth it that most of the ladies here enjoy spending those 1-3 hours on there hair. I think first you need to find you major issues ( dry hair, split ends, balding, etc.) and work on those primarily. In the meantime, create a regime for yourself and stick with it. There are plenty on the board, in fact a thread of them was created just recently if you scroll down the forum and look for it. Most importantly you came to the right place. The ladies and gentlemen on this board are so very kind and helpful and I am sure they will be able to give more advice.

I have the same problem sorta. My hair in front of my ears is thinned out because of perms its been almost 4 years. My derm also said my scalp was healthy

Would you consider starting fresh with a short relaxed hairstyle? Something similar to Halle Berry or Toni Braxton's old haircut...

I think u should try to find a really good hairdreser to do your relaxer, and keep yor hair moisturized with a moisturizing conditioner use a protein conditioner every six weeks and make sure to be consistent do not try anything that will give u set backs and it true a child needs tlc to grow so does our hair

DITTO! Search the board for info on a moisture balance system right away and hang in there, its not a fix-it-quick type of situation. Good hair care takes time and love and we are here to help you any way we can!

I believe you should keep your hair natural so it can become thick again and stay healthy. You should apply grease to your ends because they might be dry so it will fall out. Also, no weaves and your braids have to be loose not to tight because that can cause stress on the hair. You should try using this product call Doo Gro it has helped my hair from not falling out. You should make sure you eat healthy and air dry as much as possible. Do not brush your hair as often because that can cause danger to your hair. Give your hair a year and see what your results are. Do continue to use your vitamins those take 2-6 weeks to adjust to your body anyway. Good luck. I'm sure as long as you stay away from the perm your hair will be thick and long like when you were a child. Good Luck Again.

Hi, this is virgomoongoddess!
You should stick around the forum. You will be surprised at all of the information that you can pick up from these ladies. If you look at their pictures, you can tell that what they are doing is growing their hair. The best advice that I got here was to stay away from petroleum and mineral oil based products. You should also aviod direct heat (flat irons) at all costs. You may also want to invest in some olive oil, it is a great moisturizer. Good luck!!

Hi Laydeezion13...Welcome to LHCF!

Keep your ends moisturized and wear a satin covering on your head at bedtime. Eliminate anything that drys your hair out.
