Ok ladies, I've heard some of you talk about about pincurling instead of rolling and some say they use satin rollers. How do you do pincurls and what do satin rollers look like?

pincurls:
You take a section of hair (smaller section, tighter curls- larger sections, loose waves/curls) roll up using your fingers, and pin with a metal clip. Some use large bobby pins.

satin rollers:
usually foam rollers covered with satin to prevent breakage.

HTH!

 ok that sounds really easy. I did a search for those satin rollers and all I came up with is those satin foam rollers with the snaps on them. I used those years ago

Yup.......... that's exactly what I do. My hair looks AMAZING in the morning...... I will NEVER wrap again!!!!!

I do 2 pin curls at the back, i got pics somewhere in my lonei3 album. The ends come out nice and bumped/curled.

Maybe I wasnt doing it right but can someone please give me a tutorial on how to do the pincurls. Pretty pretty please.......

Bumping for more responses. So you roll the pincurls under? I thought the pin curls were like a looser version of a bantu knot. I guess I had it all wrong.

Yes, I would say that my pincurls are a looser version of a bantu knot. Im not quite rolling them "under".... more like rolling it into a circle and then pinning it flat against my scalp. This is different than rolling it under, you know what I mean? But the next morning, some of my curls do have a bumped under look, which is fine. Overall though, it just gives a very full, bouncy, gorgeous, layered look (and i DONT have a layers).

not under, the curls will lay flat on your head. In the baltimore meeting thread, my hair in those pictures was pincurled. I forgot to take a picture of the set, but you take a section, roll it between your two index fingers and pin or clip it flat to your scalp.
I curl mine first with a curling iron. I am stretching and my new growth is off the chain. After you release the curl with the iron, wrap it up with you fingers and pin. It's really easy!
ETA I found a picture

This looks like an old cosmetology book picture, but you get the gist. This is how they used to get those pretty waves. They alternated the direction of the curls as they went down the head.
Bigger pincurl sections, looser curls. HTH

Here's another one, it's kind of hard to see, but it shows how the curls are pinned close to the head. They don't have to be neat or anything, they always come out bouncy and full!

ok, that sounds like what I was thinking of. I have some of those metal clips that snap into place. I think that I will try this tonight and see what I get.

Thanks so much!

I have not had success at all with pincurls, my hair always comes out flipped up, which is not bad at all, but that was not the look I was going for.
