Pin curl and wet hair question

I am experimenting with my curls and have a few questions.

After I wash/condition my hair, if I don't blow dry it can I pin curl it while it's wet? If so will that have adverse affects on my hair? Can you recommend a good product to use that will moisturize my hair as it's pinned up?
