PIBBS: How do they work? (technically)

I've had my Pibbs 512 for over 2 months now and I can't seem to wrap my head around how this thing works. I'm pretty technically savy.

Ok so it comes in two parts, the hood can be completely removed from the base. The hood is where all the knobs are. There are no wires connecting the hood to the base so how does the power button know to activate the electricity connected to the base. Also if I swapped the hood with a 514 hood would it now be a 514? I'm confused

someone please clarify if you know. lol

p.s thinking about stealing someones 514 hood, jk. I love my 512

OKay, I'm confused. The power button is on the base for the 512? I thought the base was interchangeable for all of the hoods and that the power came from the hood itself. I have the 514. On mine, the power comes from the hood only- that's where the cord is. The power comes on when you turn the timer. You have a power button on the metal base?

lol - I meant the power button was on the hood. But wait, now that you say it, the plug might be on the hood as well.:lachen:

Why in the heck did I think the plug was on the base. LOL, that might be it. Thanx. I feel silly now, lol

LOL That's okay:lachen::lachen::lachen: Yeah, the plug cord comes from the back of the hood and the stand is interchangeable LOL You had me stumped for a second:grin: No need to feel silly, it happens to the best of us.:yep:
