Hi Nay007:

This is one of the products I have been watching, to see if anyone else has tried it. Please keep me informed if you have found someone who has used it, or if you try it yourself.

Attached is a link about the product including product reviews, on hairboutique.com -- read these "reviews" with a discerning eye--remember hairboutique.com sells the product. http://mp.hairboutique.com/reviews.asp?ProdID=852

Also, the manufacturer previously stated that the ph for this Phytospecific I (mild hair) is "9-12". I will e-mail the manufacture & ask for more specifics.

Nay, is Guanadine Carboxnate listed as one of the ingredients in Phytospecific 1? If so I have read that this is a very damaging ingredient in relaxers. Please advise if you know. Thanks.

I've thought about using this relaxer myself when I first started relaxing. Once found out that it was a no-lye relaxer, I lost interest. Besides one kit costs about $45 way too expensive IMHO.

i used this relaxer for about 18 months and it literally destroyed my hair. it has the quaninidine base , was very drying to my hair and ultimately caused much damage and breakage. my hair was also underprocessed and phyto did not staightened it sufficiently---left my hair very wavy. this relaxer is also very expensive $45.00. don't waste your $$ like i did. by the time i discovered this board, it was too late for me and my hair was already damaged.

Oh my Deborah-what a horror!

I am so glad you posted and warned us about this stuff! I hope you are able to recover from this. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

What are you using on your hair now?

Im also glad you reported this deborah, I was going to try it my next relaxer. I have gone to the phyto web site and I liked their products, I even purchased the phytoorhum shampoo and one of the conditioners. I was not overly impressed with them, but I was going to try the $45. perm. The last time I had a touchup I used ALLways natural no-lye and I think I like it. It was very gentle and did not over process, I think I will be using it for now.

hey cynamonkis,
right now i am taking a break from relaxing. actually after my phyto experience, i started using design essentials relaxer which is a very good relaxer and i could tell the differerence with it. 2002 was the hair hell year, because just when everything was going well with the design essentials relaxer , a renowed new york beautician, overprocessed my hairin an effort to correct my previous underprocessed hair as a result of using the phyto relaxer which did not straightened by hair. it is almost comical, were it not so sad. its been almost 11 weeks since my last relaxer and i won't be getting a touch up for atleast 6-8 months. i want to give myhair a chance to heal. wish me luck. good luck with your next relaxer and happy hair growing. i hope that within the next few months, i will be able to post pictures of a nice, healthy head of hair.

Deborah you have really been through it! Keep pampering your hair and I know it will recover soon,

I find it interesting that a renowned stylist helped contribute to your hair problems---it helps me to be more forgiving of my stylist whose application of a demi-permanent color to my hair helped contribute to my hair problems as well. Up until then I had been doing fine on my own. Also, I have received more knowledge in the week I've been on this board than I have from my stylist of 5 years! Amazing...

Based on what I've read on the boards, I don't know if I want to return to lye or no-lye relaxers after I nuture my hair back to health. I am intrigued by the KMS Flat Out Relaxing balm, because it appears to be low PH...but we will see.

Please post on your progress or send me a PM! Happy hair recovery to you too!
