I read a few raves about this product and it's straighteneing abilities, so I drove 30 miles to Nordstroms to pick it up one night. Tried it without heat--it did nothing but give me white flakes. Two days later I tried it and used a blow dryer(usually I don't use this appliance, but I wanted to see if this Defrissant would work), still nothing. I still had my waves from my 12 weeks of growth and my nappy edges( my roughest area) were still nappy. I am the only one who feels I wasted my $24?

Oh no! I have only heard great things about this product and have been desperately wanting to try it. I'd also like to hear other people's experience with this.

No, I wasted mine too. On 4a/b hair, the Phytodefrisant isn't very effective. My new growth is just too tightly coiled; plus I did not apply heat.

I've successfully tried the product but I have very, very fine hair and my frizzies aren't really that bad. I don't think it is worth $24 since the Surge Wooje Cream straightens out my hair for a far cheaper price.

Wow, thanks ladies for this review as I've been eyeing this product and considering investing in it when I ran out of my current stash of leave-ins. I have resistant 4b relaxed and thought it MIGHT help with straightening new growth between touchups. Sounds like this is no better than my current stuff, which actually works fine -- headdress and giovanni direct. Thanks for the look out!

I tried it too without success--then I figured that the ladies who are having success with it must have a diff. hair type than I do. Anyway, I hope it's not wasted $$$. It's returnable right? I was planning on taking mine back to Sephora.

Supergirl, I am going to try to take it back to Nordstroms although I did use it twice. I just rally did nothing for me. I also tried it on my daughter's hair(different type) and it didn't really do much for her either. Oh well!

Stop it all of you!

This is a wonderful product!!! Let me break it down:

IT DOES NOT:

-DOES NOT STRAIGHTEN TYPE 3-4 HAIR. It is a RELAXING BALM. It makes no claim to cure, straighten or relax kinky new growth.
-ACT AS A NON-CHEMICAL RELAXER. It's a RELAXING BALM. It promises to improve the texture of hair over time. NOT CHANGE IT!!

IT DOES:
-Smooth the hair. Meaning, the length of the hair is coating w/the formulation which makes it lie more smoothly on the shaft. So rather than all of the typical 'lifts' or 'splits' you see on the strand, you'd see and feel that the hair is smoother, silkier. Thus making the hair more lively, light, infused w/body and certainly easier to smooth in place, esp when wet (ideal I think for SG's air dry buns
smile.gif
)

-It is made for use w/heat. I've used it both ways but use w/heat increases effects and makes them more noticeable.

-Aids in detangling. This effect is increased w/the use of the conditioners, but still works. You will be able to detangle w/greater ease, but if your new growth is very coarse... it's going to take more effort. And again, this is not the purpose for which it was made.

______________
As far as flaking, I've never, ever had that experience, so I think you're using too much. I only use a nickle to quarter-sized portion and my hair is very dense. My hair isn't coarse, so maybe that is why it works better, but I don't think any cures in the bottle exist for new growth. I think if you try the product again w/o these expectations (or any at all) you'd be much happier.

And where are all these people that have PM'd me about the defrisant and loved it?! Don't leave me hanging. Where's Sherrylove and Tee.... I'm going to think of other users too!!! Come and rep for the Defrisant!!!! It's NOT A DUD!

Well Melodee you can take it back to Nordstroms, I did. After 4 or 5 trys I decided it was not any better than what I can buy for $5 dollars so I returned it and got my money back. No questions asked. I LOVE Nordstroms.

Hmm, I am glad I didn't purchase this then. I was going to get it along with the Phyto 9, but opted to just purchase the 9. I haven't tried it yet, but now I am skeptical about it as well, lol.

Sengschick,

I appreciate your explanation. I'm glad this product works for you. I realize that it is not supposed to do what a relaxer would do. But for me it did nothing. I do have tightly coiled edges, but the rest of my hair is not coarse. Money is tight these days and like some of the others mentioned, Defrissant didn't do enough to warrant me paying that much for the product. It does say something on the directions about if there is flaking, to brush it out. But that was disrupting my style.

Im still undecided about this product, but I only spent like 6 or 7 dollars on mine so it wasnt so much of a waste...

This stuff is my HG!!!! But I always have used it with heat.. heat would make more of a difference.. I would agree with you saying that she prolly used to much.. I've never had flaking at all.. I've been using this stuff for YEARS!

I actually really liked it. According to the instructions if you have flakes you used too much. You are also supposed to use it on soaking wet hair and work it through 2x. It left my hair very soft and helped it detangle easily. I'm hoping the results improve as I use it more. I saw a fubu.hair relaxing balm in target last week for about 6 bucks. I wonder how it compares to this in ingredients. It also says that it improves your texture the more you use it.

I can't believe you had a bad experience with my precise luv

. I've only used it about 4 times already and I can't live with out it. It completely gets rid of the frizzies. It was drizzling outside today and under normal circumstances (hair w/out phyto) my hair would of been a frizzy mess. With phyto It's like humidity no longer exist to my hair. I also notice an improvement on my hair texture over all

I have 4A relaxed hair that is very frizzy and it works for me. When I comb it through, I do use more than a nickel's worth, but I haven't had a flaking problem. It's great for smoothing back my hair in a ponytail to hit the clubs.

Sorry, I got a little emotional

. Happy to see you'll give it one more try. Sometimes I try a Phyto product and decided what my experience is going to be before I even apply the stuff to my hair. Then I get disappointed (I think the cost makes me think it's magic in a bottle), only to realize after a few more applications that the items is a keeper
smile.gif
! It's sort of subtle, b/c it's natural & not super heavy. Sometimes you can overlook the benefits. But after another try if it's not doing anything for you, please take it back!!!
