pooh, the combs are sewn on. i just loosen the stitch on one side. then i pull the comb apart from it, which loosens the stitches even more. then it just pulls off. try it.

lunalight, you just have to know what to ask for. my friend also has blond highlights. she has a ponytail that's color 1B/27. they sell them with the lighter color mixed in or as highlights.

diva, to put a photo in your post, right-click on it then select properties. there you will find the actual URL for the photo. highlight and copy that. then click on image below the window where you're posting and paste the URL there. preview to make sure you did it right.

sylvia, look at this one that i think is also really cute, but only costs $15.00 at Doctored Locks:

Thanks Adrienne!

I'm loving these drawstring phonytails! I just bought a new one that has a plastic clip with a button that holds the string tight (like the kind they put on drawstring bags to keep them from opening). Mine also has two combs. For those who remove the second comb, why do you do this? Does the other comb snag your hair?

does anyone do this: instead of using a sandwhich bag for the baggie technique, i've began to use one of those saran wrap quick covers... you know those plastic bag like covers for bowls and cups that have a little elastic in them. they work like charm and the elastic keeps them from sliding...

I have one bun and about four phonytails. I absolutely love them and I totally credit Adrienne for most of my hair growth. Nothing has worked better than this method for reducing breakage and encouraging growth.

Has anybody found a straight phonytail with no curl? Every single one I've seen has some curl to it. The only way I can get a straight ponytail is to use weave hair, which I'm wearing right now. I love it except for the bobbie pins and it's not as easy to put on and take off as a phonytail.

For those that want to use weave hair, I use only about three feet or less of weave hair and fold that in half. I then sew the seams together with weave thread so I have a double weft of about 1 1/2 feet. I wrap that around my own ponytail and it only takes about five bobbie pins to hold it snugly. It looks great if you cover the top with a scrunchie or something. I like to use regular stretch headbands as ponytail covers cause they look a little more professional and not as juvenile to me as a scrunchie.

No...but great idea. I've been cutting my baggie in half because I only have a 4 to 5 inch ponytail. I'll look for them. Thanks

Good googly-moogly, that's CUTE! Now, I'M thinking 'bout a phonytail!

Adrienne and Gldspoon - how do you do flat twist bangs? This is an excellent thread & now I'm inspired to pull the phonytail I have out of my closet. I have recently been sporting a phonybun but at a lost of what to do to make a decent bang, besides using a roller

kamilla, i know which kind you mean. it has two combs on it. depending on how you put it on, the hair flips over or under. my friends both have those. i prefer to just wear my hair under. i'm so conservative (i.e., boring...). lol!

pooh, no problem!

ipanema, i remove the second comb because whenever i'd use it, it pulled my hair too tight and gave me headaches. plus i think it creates double the stress on the hair using it for months at a time the way that i do. you don't actually have to remove it. you can simply not use it. i take mine off to resist the "it needs to be good and tight" temptation.

if you have a reversible ponytail, you'll need to leave the other comb on.

sylvia, do they have those covers in different sizes? i'd try it if they have small ones. lemme know...

robin, i'm glad it's working so well for you too! this has been a hair saver for me too since i've been able to wear braids anymore. how long have you been doing it? you think scrunchies look juvenile? how come? i ALWAYS wear black ones so they just kind of blend in with all the hair. are the headbands you use cotton or silk like the scrunchies?

leshia, go for it!!

cynamonkis, i have no idea. i've never worn flat twists or bangs with my phonytail. i wore bangs for so many years before trying to grow my hair that i think i'm pretty much done with them. plus i think my bangs now reach my chest. so that won't work.

Hi, Adrienne! Scrunchies to me not only look teenish (I'm over 40), but a little outdated too. I use all types of headbands. If you double them up, they just slip right on the ponytail perfectly with no further adjustments.

I started wearing phonytails around October or November and my hair got so healthy and strong. Then I got cute with all that new growth and started wearing my hair out every day and that caused a setback so now I'm back to protective styles and loving it.

Thanks again!

Can I just say that I LOVE my phonytails!! I'm absolutely addicted. I wear one everyday now!! I alternate between the phonytails and buns. And they keep me from using my curling iron and blowdryer. Ervytime I go to the beauty supply store, I pick up a new style. I love them. I try to keep them really short so the hair looks believable. I can't get too outrageous though or my boyfriend will flip out!

Those are cute ES! They're just a little too long for me. I'm a scardy cat!

Question for those who have ordered from DoctoredLocks online...how long did it take for you to receive yours?

Thanks in advance,
Jen

Wow, I just ordered the phonytail earlier today from doctoredlocks and they sent me a confirmation just now that it has been shipped....it's coming via Airborne Express which is usually very fast. I can't wait!!!!

My phonytail has two combs also. I just don't use the back one. I realized that it was giving me migraines. I just use the front one and just tuck the back one in. Mine flips over too so I just use whichever comb is in the front when I flip it.

Has anyone had any breakage from wearing phonytails everyday consistently. I'm thinking about doing this for my protective style, but I'm terrified of breakage.

Thank you for the suggestion. I am clumsy as "h***." I was just imagining taking out the second comb, wrapping the strings around x times-- all with that baggie slipping all over the place--- then making sure the all the extra plastic from the baggie doesn't make noise--- I was having
flashfowards (as opposed to flashbacks) and I could see my future-- hair falling off at work, hair falling off on the street, blowing down the street, hair falling off in a public bathroom right into the... You get the picture. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
