This may sound silly but I'm going to post it anyway

Since getting on this taking care of my hair routine I have been wearing my hair in buns most of the time, I usually co-wash put my hair in a bun then put a phoney pony on top to make it look or fuller, I either let this hang loose or clip it up, I have no fringe just a side parting.

Well recently I have gotten bored of this so I decided to get a wig (I asked some questions about this here), since wearing the wig I notice people are generally nicer to me, for example I get better service in shops, I get more smiles in the street etc..

Do you think this is my imagination or do you think people/strangers treat you differently based on your appearance i.e. hairstyle?

It's probably 50/50. I do notice people are nicer and more receptive to me when my hair is "done" as opposed to my usual bun or whatever - but part of that may be attitude. Do you exude more confidence when your hair is out? I don't think that my attitude changes, but people's perception of you may be different than what you think.

I wouldn't dig that deep into it. This is just my opinion but I think people deal with other people for the most part, based on appearances. Not so much on a hairstyle or a hair wig, but the way you carry yourself overall. Did you feel like a DIVA in your wig as opposed to your hair bun? Were you smiling? Was your outfit banging at the time?

Any of those reasons could suffice but I wouldn't just say because you were wearing a new wig.

You never know, you could have been "rocking it" girl.......:yep:

I noticed that as well. A few months ago, I took out microbraids that I had been wearing for months. People were mostly nice and receptive when I had the braids :yep:. Then I started wearing my own hair out but flat iron. Of course, that transition received many questions from coworkers since my own hair is much shorter :look: . Then I started wearing my natural hair braidout because I was getting too much heat damage. Surprisely, most people did not say anything because I guess they did not know what to say :perplexed. Now, I am wearing a wig and I am getting the same responses as when I had the microbraids :yep:. I do think that some styles are more accepted by certain people. It's society and media brainwashing. But if you are confident and self-assured, you can rock any style.

I guess its possible. Or maybe you feel more confident and outgoing with your wig. Maybe your attitude and presence is more inviting to people you don't know with your new do. Just a suggestion.

Well, I try not to dig too deep into other people reactions/approach. But honestly speaking, last week I had got my hair straighten (I am natural) and from my SO, mother, neighbor and co-workers seem to insist that I wear my hair straight more. Whatever!!!

I think you lot right, I may have been a bit more confident but nothing enough to call me a diva, I'm not taking it too seriously anyway It's just an observation.

I'm holding on to y wig until christmas, this will be my first time stretching, I hope I make it

I seriously think I give off a different vibe, depending on how my hair is. If it's in a neat bun, I seem more no nonsense. If it's a messy bun, I'm more relaxed and chill. A big WnG, I'm carefree and/or sensual and speaking to and smilling at everyone. Flat ironed or rollerset, I feel sexier. Sometimes. I just think the people around me respond accordingly.

yes! :yep:I've noticed that when I have a long weave in my head I get more stares then usual. But as far as services, the way people act towards me...that remains the same. Appearance is everything though.
