look like they don't take care for them self as much as a person who hair is always on point.

what do y'all think? Do you think that this is ture or not?

And I'm one with a head full of hair that look like it's not being taking care of.

I think it's all subjective. What may be considered "done" to one person, may not look taken care of to someone else.

I agree. Cuz I'm sure some people were looking at my head some days (my mama included) and thinking I wish she would go get that mess done. Shoot I didn't mind. I'd rather have my wash and go than some chewed up looking relaxed hair.

I am one of these people because I just started my hair care journey.

lol I wig when my hair's out for that reason. I always let my hair airdry and never feel like straightening it. With the wig on it looks freshly done but uhh if it were to come off people would be like :look:

Well I hate to say that I am currently one of those people walking around with a head of hair that looks like, " WHAT HAPPENED AND WHAT fOR ?" I am off of work for the summer and I am determined to work out everyday and lose 10 lbs before I go back to work ( I have high cholesterol). I am natural and I have given the word nappy a new definition. I usually wear a baseball cap and dark sun glasses when I go out in public and pray I don't run into my high school sweetheart . My husband isn't real thrilled with the new look but I told him either he was going to look at my nappy head for a few more weeks or have a unhealthy wife who no longer had her girlish figure. He quickly got my point and has agreed to go along with the program. I could get a weave or a wig but for reasons I won't get into that is not an option.

So if you happen to run into someone that looks like the person I just described it might be me so just have sympathy for a sista.

I agree with most of the other ladies. Since really taking care of my hair I know I've been looking a little ruff, which isn't me, but I just keep my eye on the prize. A few people that are close to me will be like,"Um your hair looks a little ... natural" This is funny because I do have a relaxer, but I just laugh and remember why I'm doing it.

 "I love my hair, I love my hair, I love my hair"

you ladies are to funny.

I have micros in my hair going on 4 months and some are redone and some are not.

I know people look at me like she need to take them dan@ braids out:lol:

I am the cap, scarf, tightknot hair queen. I know many feel sorry for me 99%percent of the time. they talk about me in front of my face...I know she got all that hair tied up and don't do nothin with it or wear it out.....some think I am bald and ashamed...they sure don't get to see it...I am on a mission to grow it out and when I feel comfortable wearing it loose I will, but that is a while to go yet. I have severe hair anorexia....for real. bonjour

 Yall are funny!

My hair's looking a lil rough. I'm only 8 weeks post but I have massive new growth in the crown. I didn't want to relax until I got my hair back in good condition (had an alcohol product fiasco)...... so I had my grass cornrowed and have been wearing wigs. They help me look a little more pulled together lol.

My hair has always looked a mess ever since I came out of the womb. I have a bad hair life. At least now it looks a mess for a reason. Like a mess with a mission

I tend to judge on the total "look"- are they clean, smell nice, clothes neat, hair (any texture) styled, makeup and smile.

Sometimes I just see women how looked tired or mean  - I think attitude counts for lots. :)

I must admit that I 'm one of those people. I am just learning to care for my hair. My mother started putting chemicals in my hair at an early age so I really never learned how to take care of my hair. I then decided that I wanted to go natural and decided to ware my hair in braids and weave for over 10 years and I 'm only in my 20's. I have really difficult hair! Very dry very course...very frizy...but it grow kinda fast. Most hair dressers have this look  on their face when I walk in! It has left me feeling bad about myself and I know others judge me. I have finally found a supportive stylist.

Sometimes people are lazy but some are not. There are many women who really dont know what to do with their hair. I agree with you, It sad but it's very true. I'm just learning now what to do. I thank God that this board is here so that you lovely ladies can provide feeback and suggestions.

Just providing insight from one of those ladies...

Hey, I love my messy fro and seeing it on others. :p

Hey girl I've got a messy 'fro too and I love it. Because it's a messy afro, I'm sure people assume that I just fall out of bed and walk straight out the door, but they'd know that I great care of my hair when they feel how buttery soft my 'fro is.

Yup yup!

As someone who has neglected her hair over the years, I can spot a unhealthy 'fro from 40 paces. Sometimes the naps have a mind of their own during the day and I tend to play with it on occasion, making it messy evn if I pat it back into place. Que sera, sera, y'all.
